"Bad news." Chen Wenjin thought.
Whispering discretely, Chen Wenjin asked "Is Xiao Mei ready yet?"
"She got back before midday but she is setting up the room as we planned!" Shen Xiatang said and Chen Wenjin began to panic.
"Breathe!" Chen Wenjin said to herself.
"Victory and defeat have not been decided yet." Chen Wenjin thought as her panic began to subside.
"I refuse to believe that I can't stall for more time." thought Chen Wenjin.
The minute the crowd drew near to the doors of her living quarters, Chen Wenjin threw herself in front of the door.
"Liu Tiancheng, this room belongs to your soon to be wife," Chen Wenjin said as she placed her hand on her chest and Xiao Mei hearing her voice from inside the room moved faster.
"Are you going to sit back and watch as other men ruffle through it?" Chen Wenjin said as she pointed to the male guards that the Liu family brought from their Estate.
"That's right." said Chen Zixuan, Chen Wenjin's father.
"Chen Wenjin is a young unmarried woman, ruffling through her privacy like this is simply uncalled for." said Chen Zixuan.
"So do you suggest that we use the maids that the Chen family keeps?" yelled Madam Liu.
"Sister, I know that you want to hide your crime but insisting that we use the maids who listen to every order given by the Chen family is simply preposterous!" Chen Jinyu said and Chen Zixuan had to hold Chen Lihua from slapping Chen Jinyu across the face.
"Shut up!" Chen Lihua wanted to exclaim but she knew that she would only do her daughter more harm than good.
"Fine." Chen Lihua said as he thought of a plan.
"If you won't use the maids in our estate, you can send for the maids in yours." said Chen Lihua.
"Mother-" Chen Wenjin said as he tried to stop her mother but her mother raised a hand to silence her.
"You can bring eight maids from your estate but they must be thoroughly searched, before going in." said Chen Lihua and Shen Xiatang clapped.
"Brilliant." Shen Xiatang said in glee.
"Simply Brilliant." Shen Xiatang said again in awe.
"Extra time has been secured." Shen Xiatang said as she danced around in the air.
"Is your mother looking to adopt?" Shen Xiatang asked and Chen Wenjin rolled her eyes discretely.
"Fine." Madam Liu said with a smile that didn't reach her eyes.
"Send for eight maids from the Estate." Madam Liu said to a male guard and the male guard bowed before disappearing.
As the shadow on the sundial began to lengthen, the maids from the Marquis Estate arrived. Looking discretely for Xaio Mei. Chen Wenjin breathed out a sigh of relief when her maid reappeared like she had always been there. The maids from the Marquis Estate were searched thoroughly by the maids of the Chen Residence and once they were sure that there was nothing incriminating on them, the maids from the Marquis Estate were allowed to search.
"Search every nook and cranny for the disaster relief funds." Madam Liu said as she commanded the maids from her Estate.
"Leave no stone unturned." Madam Liu said with an evil smile and the maids began to rip and smash everything in Chen Wenjin's room.
"They are doing this on purpose!" Shen Xiatang said, at the same time Chen Wenjin shouted "Stop!" as her paintings were turned to shreds and her favorite books were ripped.
"Stop this!" Chen Wenjin cried as more of her things were smashed under the guise of searching for the disaster relief funds.
"Is this how you train your maids?!" Chen Lihua demanded in anger.
"It's common knowledge that when a thief is desperate to hide something they will hide it in the most obscure places." Madam Liu said with a smile.
"They're merely doing their job." Madam Liu said with an evil grin and everyone from the Marquis Mansion along with Chen Jinyu smirked as Chen Wenjin's room was turned upside down.
"You-" Chen Lihua yelled in anger but her husband held her back and wearily shook his head.
Seeing this, Madam Liu smirked and ordered them to search harder.
Seeing her things being broken left and right, Chen Wenjin knelt before Madam Liu and her husband.
"Mother and father in law," Chen Wenjin said with tears in her eyes as she knelt down with her hands before her.
"Chen Wenjin has always been filial and respectful to the Liu family." Chen Wenjin said as tears dripped down her cheeks.
"Chen Wenjin has never taken a step in a direction that the Liu family forbade so why is the Liu family doing this to me?" Chen Wenjin asked in sorrow.
"Sister," Chen Jinyu said in a chastising manner.
"Do you think the people of the Liu household will match over to our residence just to humiliate you?" Chen Jinyu asked in a chastising manner.
"What exactly are you, that the Marquis and Madam Liu will take time off of their busy schedules to humiliate you?" Chen Jinyu asked as she sneered at Chen Wenjin.
"Chen Wenjin, you are not worth their time." Chen Jinyu said and although Chen Wenjin had tried her best to make peace with it her heart broke again.
"Liu Tiancheng," Chen Wenjin said in a broken tone as her eyes turned to her husband to be.
"Chen Jinyu is saying all this to your bride to be," Chen Wenjin said as she stared at Liu Tiancheng.
"Won't you reprimand her?" Chen Wenjin asked in a broken voice.
"Why should I reprimand her?" Liu Tiancheng asked in a flippant tone.
"Should I reprimand her for a thief like you," Liu Tiancheng said, stressing the words "thief" and "you"
"Who stole the disaster relief funds for thousands of impoverished people in the South?" Liu Tiancheng asked Chen Wenjin with a sneer and Chen Wenjin stared at him in disbelief.
"We have been betrothed for years," Chen Wenjin said as she stamped her chest.
"Is this how little you think of me?" Chen Wenjin asked but Liu Tiancheng didn't give her an answer.
Strengthening her resolve, Chen Wenjin asked "And what if the disaster funds are not here?"
"How will the Liu family repay us for this?" Chen Wenjin asked in a cold tone.
