The blue eye on the Toad Sage's forehead began radiating an unnatural light, as though it were responding to the state of turmoil consuming him and feeding upon it.
The overlapping whispers grew even louder than during any of his previous episodes. At the same time, countless streams of information flooded his mind. Some carried genuine knowledge, while others were incomprehensible in content. Together, the information, voices, and fragmented visions pressed relentlessly against his consciousness, pushing him to the brink of madness.
He clutched his head with both hands and tried to scream, hoping someone among his sons or grandchildren outside the chamber would hear him and come. But no sound would leave his throat.
As the whispers intensified and the torrent of knowledge continued to surge through his mind, the escalating condition began manifesting physically. Fleshy growths emerged across different parts of his body. Even more horrifying, an entirely new arm sprouted from his elbow.
Just before he crossed the point of no return and slipped beyond the thin boundary separating instability from complete collapse, he felt a warm, tranquil sensation rising from somewhere deep within himself. A golden aura spread outward, gradually restoring his balance and pulling him free from the madness consuming him.
"Haah... Haah... Haah..."
The Great Toad Sage breathed deeply after several moments. He felt as though he had been standing on the edge of a bottomless abyss, only to be pulled back at the final instant before falling forever.
Slowly, he rose from the ground, the exhaustion of the deadly prophecy still evident across his body. His gaze fell upon the strange fleshy growths covering him, then upon the newly formed arm protruding from his elbow.
Without hesitation, he concentrated chakra into his hand and severed the new arm along with every abnormal growth one after another. The process was agonizing, but it was insignificant compared to the suffering he had endured only moments earlier. Once he had finished amputating them, he gathered everything he had removed and sealed it inside a large scroll before rolling it up and storing it away.
He wasted no time afterward. He summoned his sons and grandchildren, for he could feel that his condition was still unstable and that he would need to enter a long hibernation to recover and regain his balance. Before doing so, however, he needed to leave behind several instructions and final words, especially after everything he had experienced during that fatal prophecy.
Although the golden light had saved him and restored his sanity, it had also sealed away a large portion of the knowledge and memories he had obtained during the vision. Whenever he tried to recall them now, all he encountered was a radiant golden barrier within his mind, as though it were protecting him from his own memories. He understood then that he had witnessed and learned things beyond what he was meant to bear.
Even so, not everything had been erased. The golden light had not sealed every memory. He still remembered the energetic white-haired young man who would one day train at Mount Myōboku, and above all, he remembered the message that had been entrusted to him.
"Help humans ."
His instincts told him that he must never ignore those words. He intended to trust that intuition and make them the guiding principle of Mount Myōboku from this day forward.
