The gathered toads surrounding the Great Toad Sage immediately noticed that he was in poor condition. Numerous bandages covered different parts of his massive body, and exhaustion was clearly visible on his face.
One of the giant toads standing at the front spoke with genuine concern.
"Are you alright, Father?"
The Sage replied in a tone that tried to sound calmer than he truly felt.
"Don't worry. I'm fine. I simply need some rest."
After a brief silence, he continued,
"I will be entering a period of hibernation, and this one may last a long time. Before that, however, there are several things I wish to entrust to all of you."
The assembled toads answered together with the respect due to their elder.
"As you command, Great Sage."
"There's no need to rush. From this day onward, I want you to help humanity. Choose those who are worthy, and assist them in learning Sage Mode."
The toads responded once again in the same respectful voice.
"As you command, Great Sage."
Then he continued, his expression turning more serious.
"And remember this well never place yourselves in opposition to humanity."
Although most of the memories, knowledge, and visions from his chaotic prophecy had now been sealed away behind that golden light which seemed to be protecting him from truths he had never been meant to witness . certain fragments still remained within his consciousness. Chief among them was the image of the white-haired youth with black skin who had smiled as though he had noticed the Sage observing him, along with those few words that had felt like a final instruction.
Because of that, the Great Toad Sage chose to trust his instincts. He would guide Mount Myōboku toward aiding humanity and standing at its side.
He looked around at those gathered before him and, before exhaustion completely overtook him, quietly said,
"You may all leave now."
Then, in a weary voice, he added,
"And if that troublesome snake or the giant slug asks about me, tell them I'm in training."
Drowsiness gradually overwhelmed him. This time, he made no attempt to resist it. Hibernation had become a defense mechanism his mind had developed over the years to protect itself from the instability caused by the blue eye. Before the eyes of his children and grandchildren, the Great Toad Sage slowly drifted into a deep slumber, while they remained standing silently, watching over him for a few moments after his consciousness faded.
At the same time, Dan sat upon his stone throne, overseeing his immense inner world, which was now almost completely finished and ready. He raised one hand, and golden and black threads appeared above his palm, intertwining in an intricate pattern that blended light and darkness.
Smiling faintly, he murmured,
"You truly enjoy flirting with death, don't you, old toad?"
