Dan smiled as he absorbed the information he had just received. Since the third eye that had appeared on the Great Toad Sage's forehead was the result of his exposure to Dan's spiritual aura when he had attempted to spy on him through his prophecy technique, the mutation was fundamentally connected to Dan himself.
Because of that, Dan possessed absolute control over the Great Toad Sage if he ever chose to exercise it. More than that, he could see and share everything the toad witnessed whenever he used his prophetic ability, because the blue eye that had grown upon his forehead was not merely a random physical mutation. It represented a fragment of Dan's spiritual power that had been forcibly transferred into the Sage. As a result, an invisible channel remained permanently open between the two of them . a connection the Sage neither knew about nor realized existed, unaware that everything he saw was being witnessed simultaneously by Dan.
Although this mutation had severely affected the Sage, disrupting his mental balance and forcing him into repeated periods of hibernation, it also represented a genuine opportunity for him. If he could gradually strengthen his spiritual power and successfully assimilate that fragment without collapsing beneath its burden, then there was no doubt he would undergo tremendous growth. Whether that would happen, however, depended entirely upon the strength of his will and his ability to endure it.
For that reason, everything the Great Toad Sage witnessed during his chaotic prophecy was seen by Dan at the exact same time. Every figure, every scene, every light, the shackled entity, and the mysterious person seated upon the golden throne.
That was not all. Thanks to his mastery over space-time, Dan had even managed to establish a connection with everything the Sage had witnessed. Through that link, he fully comprehended all the information related to those figures, understood their origins, how they were connected to the overall course of events in this world, and how they intersected with everything he already knew.
Dan paused for a moment, silently comparing the newly acquired information with everything he already understood.
"It seems the future has changed considerably because of my existence."
He stroked his chin thoughtfully.
His presence in this world a thousand years before the original story had left undeniable marks upon the flow of history. Some of those changes had been deliberate, carefully planned from the beginning. Others had arisen naturally as unintended consequences of his existence and actions . changes he had never intended, yet could never have completely avoided.
"But at least the major events I know haven't changed very much."
He had noticed that the fundamental events forming the backbone of this world's history, as he remembered them from the original story, still remained intact despite alterations to many of their details. That meant his overall influence had not severed the world's main course of destiny.
He then returned his attention to the golden and black threads still floating above his palm. They continued twisting around one another, separating before intertwining again in an endless motion that never repeated the same pattern twice. The two opposing colors coexisted in perfect balance, each enhancing the other rather than diminishing it. The gold radiated light, while the black deepened everything around it.
"Well then... what is it that you two children want from me so badly?"
The two children he referred to were perfectly clear in his mind, even though he never spoke their names aloud.
