Murderer!
That one word was like thunder on a clear sky not only for me, but also for everyone around us, be it the staff or the customers. They all turned their heads at the same time, wanting to see what was happening.
I could feel the scrutiny around me immediately. Just because Miles' voice was full of rage when he accused me, everyone quickly assumed that I was the murderer.
I knew that the right thing to do now was to ignore him completely. Because this was a public place, and the more he yelled, the more attention he would get.
I didn't know when he got a crash course on acting like a professional victim from Clarissa, but he was too convincing that it'd only put me in a difficult position.
Thus, I grabbed Anok's hand, intending to leave immediately before things got out of hand. But Miles deliberately blocked the main entrance, making sure that I'd have to face the false branding of a murderer.
"Step aside, Miles. I have nothing to do with you."
