Chapter 10 - I Miss You

Third person's POV

"Sorry, Ms. Sierra. The CEO strictly prohibited anyone from entering his office," Damian's secretary firmly told Sierra.

His eyes are not blinking, and his tone was strictly professional.

Sierra was holding a cup of coffee. She wasn't assigned to deliver it, but she'd made a deal with the one who should be doing it right now. She was desperate to see Damian.

"Can you let him know that it was me? Maybe he'll make an exception once he hears my name." Sierra offered him a hopeful smile.

The secretary just sighed. He didn't want to hurt her feelings, but he didn't have any choice.

The CEO had been on edge these past few days, keeping himself busy to ensure he fulfilled their grandmother's deal.

"Do you remember me, Ms. Sierra?" the secretary asked suddenly.

Full of confusion, she looked at him closely, trying to remember him.

She quickly covered her mouth in shock when she remembered him.

He smiled. "I was always the one who drove the two of you every date you two had back then," he said, recalling the past.

"Uncle Jino!" She blurted it out loudly.

Secretary Jino quickly made a 'Shh' gesture, which made Sierra cover her mouth again.

"It's been a long time, Ms. Sierra. I'm really glad you came back to him." He smiled and nodded at her.

He was the only one who knew about their relationship. She had badly wanted to talk to him about Damian after her accident.

"Uncle Jino. It's really nice to see you. You've gotten older." Sierra softly laughed, which made Jino smile. He noticed that she hadn't really changed.

"You're still the same, Ms. Sierra. You haven't changed a bit."

"Of course, I just slept for almost a year." She paused, her smile disappearing as she remembered how much things had changed between Damian and her.

"But we're not the same as we are back then, Uncle Jino."

"That's understandable. You've both just entered the reality of life, it's testing your love for each other."

"He hasn't reached out to me at all…" She thought that Damian was gradually realizing their love could have a second chance.

"Do you trust him?" He seriously asked her.

She looked at him and sighed.

"Of course. I know Damian would never hurt me."

"That's it. Go on and enjoy your coffee and let Damian settle everything." He laughed teasingly as he slowly guided her away.

'Look at this old man.' Sierra thought. "I thought we were having a good conversation already, but he just ushered me out.' Sierra pouted her lips and started walking away.

She sighed again when she reached her office table. She reached for her phone inside her blazer pocket and looked at Damian's number.

She wanted to message him or try to call him again. But she remembered what Jino said to her earlier.

Just trust him and let her handle things out.

She thought about how her current wait was nothing compared to how long Damian had waited for her to come back, all while thinking she had left him. Now, it was her time to wait for him.

She put her phone away and started working again, she realized that her lunch break was almost over.

Her stomach was growling since she had tried to meet Damian earlier and hadn't gotten a chance to eat lunch.

A fragrant bread suddenly appeared in front of her. The smell was enough to make her mouth water and awaken her hunger.

"You didn't eat, right?" Jules said from beside her. She stared at him, then back at the bread again.

"Is this for me?" Her eyes twinkled.

Julian laughed softly at her cute reactions, which only made him more interested in her.

"Thank you so much. You're a life saver!" she uttered gratefully, grabbing the bread and taking a bite.

"Are you going tomorrow?" He asked, not leaving her side.

"Where? *cough*" she almost choked, answering him with a mouthful of bread.

"Here, sorry." Julian handed her a bottle of water and softly tapped her back.

"It's fine. But where is it again?" She asked, still devouring the bread in her hands.

"Ahm… Tomorrow? Did you forget? The company sponsored us to have a milestone celebration at the Hover hotel?" He seemed lost while explaining because he couldn't believe Sierra had actually forgotten.

Everyone was busy getting their dress already, while she had completely forgotten about it because of Damian.

"Ah!" She fakely smiled at him, acting like she hadn't forgotten about the party.

"Yeah! Of course. Why wouldn't I? Hahaha." She even laughed, trying her best to maintain the act.

Julian just laughed at her obvious act.

"You really did forget it, didn't you?" He teased her.

"Yeah." Her act stopped, and she bowed her head in embarrassment.

"It's okay, Aurora. You're always dreamy and absent-minded." He teased her more.

Sierra jokingly rolled her eyes.

"Jules. Come here for a second." They both turned their heads when someone called Julian.

"Don't forget your ticket tomorrow, Aurora." He joked as he laughed and walked away.

She chuckled while watching him walk away.

When Julian was gone, she remembered the ticket.

Panic struck her when she realized she'd forgotten where she put her ticket.

'Maybe at home?' She thought, deciding to panic later if the ticket wasn't there.

Nadia was already dolled up. Meanwhile, Sierra's chin nearly touched the ground from sadness. She had lost her ticket.

They both searched for it all night, but they were unlucky, they didn't find it.

"Are you sure you're okay, Sierra? I told you I'd stay here with you so you wouldn't be alone," Her sister Nadia asked again out of worries.

"Sister, you have to go there and have some fun. I'm not a 13-year-old anymore who can't be left alone in the house."

"Yeah, right. Whatever." Nadia responds to her bluntly.

"I'll go now. Lock all the doors," Nadia said, saying goodbye.

When Nadia left, she opened her messaging app and sent a message to Damian, even though she wasn't sure if he would reply or even see her text.

~Will you go to the party tonight? I lost my ticket, so I'm all alone at home. Hope you're doing fine. I love you~

She opened her laptop and tried to read some novels, hoping to make herself sleepy.

Time passed quickly. She didn't notice the hour until someone rang the doorbell.

When she looked at the clock, she saw it's almost midnight already.

"Is the party over already?" She asked herself, thinking it might be her sister since her mother was working the graveyard shift.

She opened the door and was stunned to see who it was.

"Damian?"

"I miss you."
