(MASON'S POV)
Victor smiled—a rare, genuine smile that transformed his usually mischievous features into something softer, warmer. "Then let me do this. I've spent centuries following him around the world. I know every road he's ever traveled, every hidden corner he's ever disappeared into, every shady establishment he's ever drowned his sorrows in. I'll find him."
"But what if he hurts you? He's not in his right mind, Victor. He's—"
"He would never hurt me," Victor said firmly. "Even in the throes of bloodlust, Dad would never harm his own family. You know that as well as I do."
He turned to Haelorian. "You said you lost him in the fourth town. Which town was it?"
Haelorian closed his eyes, his ancient face creased with concentration. "The town was called Abernathy's End. It's a small mining settlement about a hundred miles from here. I was able to track him as far as the old railway station there before he masked himself from my sight."
