As Taylen and Kathey were talking quietly on the balcony, footsteps soon approached behind them. Arcturus and Pandora stepped outside, watching the two children with soft smiles.
"Ah, see?" Pandora said brightly, nudging Arcturus. "Told you the kiddos would definitely bond. He would've loved to see this."
Hearing her voice, both Taylen and Kathey turned around.
"Hey… is it time?" Taylen asked.
"Yep, kid," Arcturus replied calmly. "Time to head back."
Taylen nodded and turned to leave with him, but Kathey called out.
"Write to me, will you?"
Taylen glanced back over his shoulder, smiling.
"For sure, Kathey."
The next few months passed with letters constantly flying between them. Whenever they had free time, they wrote to each other, catching up for the years they hadn't been able to spend together.
Taylen often wrote about how he cared for injured magical creatures in the forest and hinted at some of his quieter dealings with the goblins of Gringotts.
Kathey, meanwhile, told him about the strange expeditions she went on with her father, Xenophilius, and how her natural affinity with plants helped her experiment with herbs and potions.
Eventually, one day she received permission to invite him over.
On a bright afternoon, after finishing his chores and training, Taylen traveled to the Lovegood house through the Floo Network.
He was warmly welcomed. Xenophilius seemed to enjoy talking with him about unusual theories, while Pandora showed a surprising interest in Taylen's ideas and little projects.
Most of the day, however, was spent with Kathey.
The two of them sat together exchanging ideas, discussing magical theories, plants, creatures, and strange concepts neither of them could talk about with most people.
At one point Kathey mentioned something she had recently started doing through her father's magazine, The Quibbler.
"I help people solve strange problems," she explained. "Through letters mostly. They send questions or issues, and I try to fix them. Sometimes with potions, sometimes herbs. They even pay for it."
Taylen listened thoughtfully before suddenly speaking.
"Would you like to be my partner in a business?"
Kathey blinked in surprise.
"Wait… are you serious? Like, I'd actually get a share?"
"Of course," Taylen replied. "You send your enchanted herbs to a few contacts in the Ministry using owls. They'll buy them. We split everything fifty–fifty. Your earnings and mine."
They had begun walking down the hill toward the wide meadow beyond the Lovegood property.
As they crossed the boundary ward, Taylen briefly felt the magic pass through him, though he didn't react. He knew Kathey must have already allowed him entry.
She looked at him for a moment, then grinned.
"Alright then. It's a deal."
They shook hands, sealing their partnership.
After a few more steps, Kathey glanced sideways at him.
"So… what kind of duel did you mention earlier?"
"Just a friendly one," Taylen said casually. "For practice."
He lifted his hand and swept it through the air. Instantly a sound–dampening barrier expanded around them, enclosing the meadow.
Kathey snorted softly.
"Show-off."
Both of them took a stance.
Kathey raised an eyebrow with a playful smirk.
"First one to get pushed back loses."
Taylen chuckled.
"Sure."
Without warning, Kathey flicked her fingers forward. A silent blast of air shot toward him ,a wandless Depulso.
Taylen raised his palm quickly, forming a thin shimmering barrier. The force struck it and slid him back half a step.
He immediately crouched and dashed forward, striking the ground with his hand. The earth beneath Kathey rose suddenly, throwing off her balance.
At the same moment he cast Expulso and a binding charm together.
Kathey flipped backward just in time. The Expulso slammed into the ground behind her with a loud crack while she deflected the binding spell and rushed toward him.
With a swift motion she transmuted scattered stones into sharp spikes and launched them forward.
"Incendio."
Flames burst from Taylen's hand, burning the projectiles to ash before he retaliated with a quick Bombarda.
Kathey answered with the same spell.
The two explosions collided between them with a loud blast that pushed both of them back beyond the barrier.
Dust settled around them.
Taylen laughed first.
"Well… looks like it's a tie."
Kathey brushed dirt from her sleeves.
"Seems like it."
He dissolved the barrier while she calmly repaired the damaged ground with a flick of magic before they both walked back toward the house.
A while later Arcturus arrived, and the lot of them shared lunch , reminiscing about old times when the three oldies were gold in Hogwarts ,before Taylen returned home.
From then on, this slowly became part of Taylen's routine.
He trained daily — studying magic, exercising, practicing forging and crafting.
Two or three times a month he would visit Kathey's home. Sometimes they even took Luna along to Diagon Alley, letting her enjoy sweets and pastries while they handled their own errands.
One such visit allowed Taylen to take Kathey into Gringotts, where their partnership was officially registered with goblin contracts.
She was given an endless pouch linked to their vault, allowing them to manage their growing business easily.
Then, one morning, the day Taylen had been waiting for finally arrived.
He and Arcturus were quietly eating breakfast when Jack, came to the table.
Arcturus' owl, Clawy was on his hand.
In his beak was a thick envelope sealed with deep red wax.
Taylen immediately recognized the crest.
His Hogwarts letter had arrived.
