On seeing the Hogwarts letter, Taylen's excitement was uncontrollable. He quickly sent a reply via Arcturus' owl to Kathey, and almost immediately, a response arrived from her as well. Both of them were overjoyed Kathey had received her own Hogwarts letter too. The two decided that, together, they would head to Diagon Alley the following week to purchase supplies and pick out their wands, with Arcturus and Xenophilius accompanying them. Taylen sent his official reply to Hogwarts and spent the days leading up to the trip in eager anticipation.
The morning of their Diagon Alley excursion arrived, and the children were accompanied by their respective guardians. First stop: Flourish and Blotts. Even though Taylen and Kathey already had old versions of many books at home, they preferred fresh copies, carefully curated and updated.
Next, they visited Scribbulus and Amanuensis for parchment and quills. Here, the children went on a mini-spree. They purchased several self-writing quills, some embedded with runes to keep writing homework and maintain notes with a small modified memory charm, while they could also automatically track and note ongoing classes. Taylen and Kathey even customized three quills each: feathers with white fur on one side and red on the other, with a small enchanted glass vial near the neck capable of holding far more ink than it appeared to, completely unbreakable. The quills featured nibs reinforced with subtle metals to enhance the elegance of calligraphy. Their total cost was about ten Galleons—a trivial sum compared to their combined resources.
Madam Malkin's came next for school robes. Taylen and Kathey decided to commission custom robes rather than purchasing new ones each year. The robes were designed with regulated fitting so that as they grew, the robes would still fit perfectly, while still receiving standard Hogwarts inner uniforms annually. For enhancements, they chose Acromantula silk for regular wear and Mooncalf fur for winter garments. They requested weather and temperature regulation, minor spell resistance, durability enchantments, and integrated runes for protection. The custom robes cost around 270 Galleons—an absolute bargain considering their earnings, that too with extra ones.
At the Apothecary, they acquired materials for Potions class, including cauldrons, glassware, and brass scales, all lightly enchanted with runes to prevent tampering or theft. Afterwards, they visited Wiseacres Wizarding Equipment, picking up telescopes, planetary and constellation maps, and other divination tools. Kathey, ambitious about Astronomy and Divination, collected every instrument she could need.
They commissioned two trunks to last for years. The trunks were imbued with shrinking charms, anti-Muggle enchantments, anti-theft wards, returning-to-owner charms, unbreakable charms, expandable shelves, and storage expansion runes. Although the trunks could have been completed faster, Taylen insisted on high-quality craftsmanship using premium materials.
Finally, it was time for their wands. Standing in front of Ollivanders, anticipation buzzed in the air as Xenophilius and Arcturus waited. Taylen gestured for Kathey to step forward first. After half an hour of testing dozens of wands without success, both children stood amidst piles of unused wands, none resonating with them. Ollivander carefully measured their hands and fetched a special parchment.
"Place your thumb on the paper," he instructed, "and focus on feeling the magic through it." Taylen and Kathey exchanged a determined glance and followed the instructions. Ollivander then touched both parchments with his own wand and examined them.
"For you, Miss Lovegood," he said, "your conservative yet growth-oriented magic harmonizes perfectly with a Cedar wand, triple-core: Kelpie hair, Veela hair, and Unicorn hair. And for you, Taylen Peverell…" He paused, studying the parchment with intensity. "Your explosive magical strength is versatile but difficult to regulate. Yew wood suits you, and the core must manage immense energy so a Swedish Short Snout Dragon Heartstring. A phoenix feather alone is insufficient for directing the energy—you will need…"
Taylen interrupted, producing a small vial from his pouch. Thunderbird feathers.
"Exactly!" Ollivander exclaimed, eyes gleaming. "This will direct your magical power quickly and precisely. Fascinating." A one-week wait was required for the wands to be crafted. Before leaving, Taylen slyly placed a vial of Thestral hair on Ollivander's desk. Using a subtle Legilimency nudge, he conveyed, "Hope you find a use for it, Mr. Ollivander."
Their final stop was the Magical Menagerie. Kathey chose a rare white owl with greenish-blue eyes, delicate and elegant.
Taylen, however, spotted a small, seemingly overlooked creature tucked in a corner: a sleek black cat, the size of a regular housecat, but with tiny folded owl-like wings. Its fur shimmered in glossy black, and its eyes were a pure, glowing white. Tiny feathered tufts adorned its head, and a short feathery tail flicked behind it. Its beak, faintly avian, completed its hybrid form. Intelligent and silent, it moved as though floating, always observing. Taylen named it Anubis and placed a tiny enchanted ring on one paw to track its location.
A week later, Arcturus and Kathey returned to collect all custom orders. Taylen picked up his wand holster—crafted by Winger—with concealed blades on either side, sheathed in enchanted dragonhide. The holster was bound to him, its silver inlays glinting, matching the exquisite craftsmanship of the blades. The extra designs and the blades were made of goblin silver due to Taylen's profits and shares to Goblins , which were a whopping 40,000 Galleons. He rechecked his vault funds and found he still had 90,000 around Galleons including the profit, and infact excluding the Sickles and change currencies. Kathey checked along with me and hers had around 20,000 Galleons. She had told her parents about the buisness and contracts, her name was anonymously well, 'Alara Winters'. Though their guardians refused to spend huge amounts or take amounts from them, they knew they were proud of the kids.
They returned home, thrilled and fully equipped for Hogwarts. With pets, wands, robes, and all custom supplies ready, the excitement of the upcoming school year simmered in their hearts, the first step of many magical adventures already set into motion.
It were just some months left, before they would be on the train, towards the reputed Hogwarts.
