Chapter 24 - chapter Twenty four: sudden encounter

After a busy day, the filming finally wrapped up.

When I looked up, I realized the sky was already dark.

Stretching lazily, I grabbed my car keys and headed toward the parking lot.

"Alicia."

Just as I was nearing the outdoor parking lot, I suddenly heard someone call my name.

I turned around and saw Aiden Firestone standing not far away. I couldn't help but smile.

"Aiden, the big star! It's you. Long time no see. What are you doing here? Do you have a shoot scheduled?"

Aiden smiled and walked toward me. "For a second, I thought I was seeing things, but it really is you. I just had a magazine cover shoot. What's keeping you here so late today?"

"Work has been a bit hectic lately," I replied with a smile.

"Is it the Éclat Beauty endorsement ad? I saw it in the news."

"Yeah, that's right. What about you? Do you have more work after this shoot?"

"No," he said, shaking his head. "I'm taking a break for a few days. The workload has been too heavy recently, so I'm resting for a while. Come on, let's grab a meal. We haven't seen each other in ages."

I thought for a moment before answering.

"I'm afraid I can't right now. It's already late. Let's do it another time since you're still around."

Aiden looked a little disappointed, but he quickly smiled it off.

"Alright then. I still have your contact, so we'll just talk on the phone."

We said our goodbyes, and I drove out of the parking lot.

When I arrived home, I saw that the lights were on in the living room. As I stepped inside, I noticed Alexander casually sitting on the couch, still in his suit, implying that he had also just arrived. His eyes were closed as if he were asleep, but the moment he heard my footsteps, he opened them and we locked gazes.

"You're back," he said casually.

I immediately looked away and went upstairs without answering him. As I walked up the stairs, I could feel his gaze burning behind me. I went to the master bedroom and headed straight to the bathroom.

A few minutes later, after I was done, I realized that I hadn't brought my pajamas. I took a towel and tied it around my body. I opened the door with the intention of going to the walk-in closet to get my pajamas, but then I bumped into something hard and almost tripped. A strong arm suddenly gripped my waist.

I looked up and was met with Alexander's blue orbs, which always seemed to draw me in. I was still in his arms, lost in his eyes, when I felt my towel loosen. Instinctively, I pushed him away and tried to hold onto the towel. I clutched it to my chest and looked up to catch Alexander staring.

"You shouldn't look," I said irritably, still trying to adjust the towel that now hung loosely around my chest. It was almost visible because the towel was too small and barely covered my thighs.

I noticed Alexander's Adam's apple move as he swallowed hard before teasingly saying, "I've already seen it before."

He suddenly looked away, as if he had just caught himself looking at something forbidden.

I casually huffed and walked into the closet.

When I returned to the room, I heard the running water of the shower and realized Alexander was probably in the bathroom. I walked downstairs to the kitchen to grab dinner. Maria had already set everything and had probably retired for the night.I sat down and began eating. My appetite had improved recently, and I guessed it was because of my pregnancy. I was almost done when I heard footsteps descending the stairs. A moment later, Alexander walked in and sat at the dining table.
