Chapter 6 - Chapter 5: First incident with Lala

'Ah, I think I know what chapter we're in' Yuuji thought as he watched that scene.

One of the early chapters, when Lala wants to cook for Rito because he said he wants to eat food made by the person he loves.

'If I'm not mistaken, she should be cooking for him in the cooking room right now' Yuuji thought.

But the idea quickly passed.

"And why do I care about that? I should think about what I'm going to eat."

However, even if he didn't care, someone else did.

Yuuji's pants pocket vibrated, and he took out the D-Dial only to see a message from Zastin.

[I can't see them now that they're not in the classroom, follow them and tell me what's happening.]

After reading the message, Yuuji turned and looked out the windows, and sure enough, he spotted Zastin on the rooftop of a building, about ten blocks away.

Zastin noticed him as well, since he looked directly into his eyes.

Under that gaze, Yuuji could only stand up immediately.

"Yuuji Rito, where are you going? Shouldn't you socialize with your new classmates on the first day?" a female voice said behind him.

"I'm sorry, I'm busy!" Yuuji shouted as he quickly left.

Behind him, without him noticing, someone else also left the classroom and headed in the same direction.

After a quick search, Yuuji found the cooking room and, just as he expected, Rito and Lala were there.

Rito was sitting nervously on a chair in front of a table, while Lala was in the kitchen preparing something.

However, as expected in an ecchi anime, Lala was not cooking like a normal person, instead, she wore an apron over a pair of panties, leaving most of her body exposed.

Her large breasts slightly peeked out from the sides and above the apron, while her barely covered backside, wrapped in underwear far too small, swayed from side to side as she hummed and cooked.

Rito simply looked away, blushing, trying not to stare at her.

"Damn, I can kind of understand the guys' envy toward Rito, hahaha" Yuuji couldn't help but laugh a little, even if he had seen them before as characters on a screen, seeing them now in person, he had to admit that Lala was by far the most beautiful girl he had ever seen in his life, and Rito simply ignored her or ran away from her displays of affection, so the classmates' jealousy was understandable.

But putting that aside, Yuuji took out his D-Dial and directly informed Zastin of the situation.

He explained that Lala was simply cooking for Rito and that they seemed very happy together.

"Maybe I shouldn't add the part about very happy together" Yuuji thought, remembering that Zastin's original goal was to separate them.

"It doesn't matter," Yuuji shrugged and did his job as instructed, reporting everything.

"What doesn't matter?" a voice sounded next to him, startling him.

Yuuji turned and saw, just inches from his face and looking at his phone, a girl with shoulder length blue hair and a gentle, calm gaze, the kind of character that used to be the most popular in anime a few years ago, yet still always lost to the energetic main heroine.

Or maybe she was popular precisely because she lost.

"Sairenji, what are you doing here?" Yuuji asked as he recognized her.

"What are you doing here?" Sairenji shot back.

"I went to buy a bento and just happened to pass by, I saw them through the window and got curious about what they were doing," Yuuji excused himself.

"But I saw you standing here for at least five minutes, why haven't you left yet?" Sairenji asked before looking through the door window into the cooking room.

She immediately turned her head away, blushing.

"Y-you pervert!" she snapped.

"Huh?" Yuuji reacted in confusion for a second before understanding what she meant. "Wait, I wasn't looking at that, I was just curious about their relationship."

Yuuji said, but Sairenji looked at him with an expression that clearly said I don't believe you at all.

However, Sairenji did not continue arguing, instead she entered the room, upon seeing her enter, both Rito and Lala turned toward the door.

As a result, they saw not only Sairenji, but also Yuuji behind her.

"Haruna, Yuuji, come in!" Lala waved her hand excitedly.

Yuuji sighed and went in so as not to look even more suspicious.

However, Rito became nervous not only upon seeing Sairenji, but also Yuuji.

"T-this isn't what it looks like."

On one hand he was trying not to seem like a pervert for being alone in a room with a half naked girl, while on the other he was trying to prevent Sairenji from misunderstanding his relationship with Lala.

'Ah, Lala completely clueless, Rito nervous about everything trying to fix misunderstandings without success, yeah, this is why To Love Ru was fun' Yuuji thought as he watched the essence of To Love Ru unfold before him. 'Although of course, if you do that for four seasons it's understandable that a protagonist who never changes starts to annoy the fans.'

"Haruna, I was cooking for Rito, he said he wants to eat something made by someone he loves, you know?"

Lala's innocent words hit Haruna, who had feelings for Rito, and it immediately showed on her face.

But unlike usual, when Haruna acts like a good girl and keeps her feelings to herself, this time she confronted Rito directly.

"Yuuki, do you love her? What is your relationship?" she asked angrily.

"Ah, food, I want some too" Yuuji muttered as he watched the spectacle.

Thinking about how he wished he had popcorn only made him hungrier.

At his words, which ruined the atmosphere, the three of them turned toward him.

"Um, did I say that out loud?" Yuuji said somewhat embarrassed. "Sorry, I didn't bring a bento or money to buy anything, so seeing the food made my mouth water."

Lala looked at Yuuji with an intense expression, as if she were making a life or death decision in her mind.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, she spoke.

"I'm sorry, I can't share it with you, this food is a token of my love for Rito."

"It's fine, don't worry" Yuuji said, not expecting her to take his simple mutter so seriously.

In any case, with his current abilities he could resist several days without eating.

"Or at least that's how it usually works in stories, right?" Yuuji convinced himself.

[Hey, how's the situation now?] Yuuji felt his phone vibrate and checked Zastin's message.

Looking forward, where Lala kept cooking innocently while Haruna stared at Rito with a serious expression waiting for an answer and he just kept stammering, he typed:

[Everything is fine.]

Just as Yuuji was thinking about finding a chair to sit down and continue watching the show, the window suddenly shattered.

Giant tentacles burst through the windows toward the two girls.

"Pffft." At the randomness of the situation, Yuuji let out a laugh, but quickly protected the two girls using several layers of Project Image crystals.

Unfortunately, for some reason the durability of the crystals was counted separately, in other words, they were extremely easy to break.

If they could merge he could create an indestructible shield by stacking hundreds of them, but since each one shattered individually instead of combining, they only served to buy a little time, barely two seconds at most.

At that moment Yuuji's left eye glowed red and he could feel, in real time, his entire body becoming several times stronger, without wasting time he jumped toward Lala, who was about to be grabbed by a tentacle, and moved her out of the way.

The tentacle struck the floor and continued smashing several kitchen appliances while searching unsuccessfully for its victim.

After moving Lala out of danger, Yuuji turned toward Haruna, but he was surprised to notice she was no longer there, at some point Rito had also moved and had already pulled her to safety.

Without getting too distracted, Yuuji summoned several mirrors, this time with images of the girls all around the school, confusing the huge octopus on the rooftop, which began thrashing all its tentacles trying to catch them.

Yuuji looked at Rito and saw that he was already taking care of Haruna, so he grabbed Lala by the hand and ran quickly, however, unlike Rito who ran inside, Yuuji jumped straight out the window and rose into the air with Lala, ascending dozens of meters.

Lala simply let herself be carried and clung to Yuuji as he soared through the sky.

From that height the building's rooftop looked small, and the enormous octopus seemed less intimidating.

"You did that, didn't you? Can you undo it?" Yuuji asked.

"Ah Right! I shouldn't have used space seasonings on Earth food" Lala said as if she had just realized something obvious.

"So how do you fix it?"

"We just have to kill them and after a while the effect will wear off."

"And you expect us to kill that thing?" Yuuji said, pointing at the giant octopus.

What could he even do? Even being several times stronger than a normal person, he couldn't fight a giant octopus. What was he supposed to do, fly around it and create illusions hoping it tangled itself up?

Well, if he were willing to turn into a Wendigo maybe he could do something with ice magic.

"Yeah, I'm not doing that."

"Did you say something?" Lala asked.

"Nothing. By the way, did you only cook octopus?"

"Actually…"

Boom!

Before Lala could finish answering, a giant squid appeared next to the octopus and started fighting it.

As if that were not interesting enough, a giant lobster joined the battle, and finally an even bigger octopus than the other three combined appeared and tangled them all in combat.

"So…" Yuuji said, hoping Lala had a plan.

"Ah! There he is" Lala said, interrupting him as she pointed downward.

'So He is the plan' Yuuji thought when he saw Zastin leap several meters into the air above the four monsters and then, with a single downward slash, kill all four at once as if it were nothing.
