Liam turned off the large TV and went upstairs, leaving Nancy and me.
Nancy pulled at my dress aggressively. "So you mean all those late nights, you were doing it for free?"
The way she's glaring at me like I stole made me smile a little. "I thought we were a couple, and I was doing it for our Pack and our future kids. I didn't know that…" I trailed off, unwilling to relive that horrible memory.
Nancy's hands wrapped around mine until they were interlocked. "Don't worry, we will put our all into this and make it work, but before then, I'm going to make sure that you have ironclad contracts showing what you would be paid and all."
I managed to find my voice even though my throat had clamped up from how emotional I was feeling.
"Thank you, NanNan."
She was my first and only friend. Even though I had always considered her one of my favorite people on Earth, with everything that happened recently, I realized just how lucky I was to have her.
