CHAPTER 18: THE OUTCASTS OF THE VOID

The sky had now turned a deep purple. Ash-like particles floating in the air stung Aryan's wounds. After the fall of the Tower of Echoes, the entire world seemed to have become unstable.

On the distant horizon, a massive army of red-eyed machines appeared—Sentinels, War Drones, and Combat Scavengers—all racing toward them. Aryan supported his mother; her body was still trembling with a faint digital vibration, as if her consciousness hadn't fully stabilized yet.

Iris (in a grave voice):

"Aryan, we cannot fight out here in the open. Your mother needs protection… and your system is nearing an overload."

Aryan gripped his metal rod tightly.

Aryan: "Where do we go? The entire system now considers us a 'Virus'."

Iris scanned her internal map. A few seconds later, blue holographic lines shimmered in her eyes.

Iris: "There is a 'Dead Zone' six kilometers from here—an area filled with heaps of old deleted data and corrupted servers."

Aryan: "Dead Zone?"

Iris: "Yes. The system cannot scan effectively there. If any resistance remains… it would likely be there."

Aryan nodded. "Then that's where we go."

But they couldn't get very far. Suddenly, three Scavenger Drones descended from the sky, their red sensors locking directly onto Aryan.

Iris: "Contact!"

Instead of fighting directly, Aryan chose a different path. He knelt down and placed his hand on the ground.

SYSTEM CORE ACTIVATED

LOCAL_CODE_CORRUPTION INITIATED

SHUNYA FIELD: ACTIVE

Thin ripples of black energy began to spread from beneath the ground. As the drones descended, their sensors began to glitch. One drone detected the other as an enemy.

BOOM!

Two drones collided in mid-air and exploded. The third drone spun in panic mode and crashed into nearby debris.

This was Aryan's first Guerrilla Victory. But on the distant horizon, the real army of machines was still advancing.

After some time, they reached a massive pile of debris that looked like an old data server tower. Suddenly—

CLANK!

A secret door opened from beneath the ground. Four masked hunters emerged, carrying modified plasma rifles and wearing armor made from old military tech.

One of them stepped forward.

Hunter: "Subject 01…"

He said with a light chuckle—

"Or should we call you 'The Great Virus'?"

Aryan raised his rod. Black Shunya energy began to shimmer around him.

Aryan: "I don't want a fight. I just want to save my mother."

The hunters looked at each other. Then their leader nodded.

Leader: "Come inside. Before the system's real hunters get here. We are… The Outcasts."

The scene inside was astonishing. The place was half-junkyard and half-laboratory. Broken servers, energy batteries, and patched-up machines were everywhere. But there were people too—dozens of them. Some were fully human, some were half-cyborg, and some lived only within digital consciousness shells. This was the Underground Resistance Base.

Aryan laid his mother on a neural stabilization bed. Iris immediately began scanning her. The masked leader removed his mask, revealing an old man with one digital eye implant.

Leader: "My name is… Captain Zero."

He looked at Aryan intently.

"By bringing down the Tower of Echoes, you've shaken the system. You aren't just a fugitive anymore… you are the beginning of a revolution."

Aryan shook his head.

Aryan: "I don't want to be a hero. I just want to know the truth."

Captain Zero smiled faintly.

Captain Zero: "The truth… is a dangerous thing, boy."

He opened some data on a screen.

"Your mother isn't just a human. She is the Master Key to this entire system."

Silence filled the room. Even Iris was shocked. Suddenly—

BOOOOM!

The entire cave shook violently. Dust fell from the walls. Iris immediately entered combat mode.

Iris: "Has the system reached here?"

Captain Zero pointed toward the screen. A massive warning was flashing there:

GLOBAL PURGE PROTOCOL ACTIVATED

TARGET: VIRUS ENTITY

ELIMINATION ZONE: WASTELAND

Captain Zero's voice became heavy.

"This isn't just an attack. The system is going to burn the entire Wasteland… just to find you."

Aryan slowly stood up. Black Shunya lightning sparked from his metal rod. He looked at the growing army of machines on the screen and spoke softly—

Aryan: "If they consider us a Virus… then we'll start crashing this system."
