Maya's POV
The moment Sebastian walked back into that sterile waiting room, I could tell something had shifted. His shoulders carried a different kind of tension now, less anxious and more determined. Whatever Dominic had told him had clearly been significant.
"What happened out there?" I asked the second he settled into the chair beside me, studying his face for clues.
He leaned down and brushed his lips against my forehead, that gentle gesture I'd grown to love so much. His palm found my rounded belly automatically, like it always did these days.
"Just more evidence about Bianca and Valentina," he said, his tone carefully measured. "Dominic has everything he needs now. It's all going to be over soon."
The knot of worry that had been sitting in my chest for weeks finally began to loosen. I'd been trying so hard to stay relaxed for the baby's sake, but the constant stress of wondering when the other shoe would drop had been exhausting.
