The wedding day was getting closer, making Valeria fed up and wanting to fight the marriage. She kept asking several men who often asked her out on dates to go out together and spend time with her.
All this was so that Dominic would no longer want to be with her.
What man would want a woman who likes to change men for dates?
However, for some reason, they suddenly rejected all of Valeria's invitations. They even stopped contacting her, which made Valeria feel strange. These men always used to contact her and ask her out to dinner or shopping.
But in the past week, they seemed to have disappeared and were trying to avoid her.
"Where are they? Why are they rejecting my invitations when they always used to fight over taking me out?" Valeria muttered irritably.
Finally, a notification popped up on her phone: a man named Danny had accepted her invitation. Valeria breathed a sigh of relief, and they agreed to have dinner at an expensive restaurant in Vansia, the city where she currently lived.
That evening, Danny picked Valeria up in front of her mansion and they drove off together in his car. Valeria didn't pay much attention to her father's request for her to stay home.
"Oh, this is a wonderful dinner, Valeria. After so long, we can finally meet again and I can see your beautiful and charming face," said Danny, complimenting Valeria's beauty as he held her hand.
"You're exaggerating, but I know I am beautiful. Thank you for that," she replied softly, looking so sweet in front of him, even though he didn't know what she was thinking.
'Keep praising me, my little dog. Keep barking like an obedient dog,' Valeria thought as she smiled at Danny.
At that moment, they had just finished dinner and were waiting for dessert while chatting romantically with each other.
Valeria was never serious about any relationship. She even played with all the men she dated, treating them like dogs that followed her and entertained her whenever she needed them.
So what did she give them in return?
Nothing, nothing but false hopes and smiles that hid her cunning.
"Oh right, I heard you're getting married to the head of the Lawrence family, is that true? Does that mean we can't see each other anymore?" asked Danny, holding Valeria's hand.
"Don't say that, whatever happens, we can still see each other. Don't worry about that stupid marriage," replied the red-haired woman, stroking Danny's handsome cheek.
She seemed to be casting a spell on the man she considered foolish.
News of Dominic and Valeria's wedding spread far and wide throughout Dormania. How could it not? Dominic is the head of the Lawrence family, the number one mafia family in the great nation of Dormania. His sphere of influence could even span two countries due to his massive arms sales.
Valeria also comes from the Scarlett family, the second most powerful mafia family after the Lawrences. Everyone knows her mafia group as the most ruthless.
No wonder everyone knew about their wedding. That was also why men stopped meeting and dating her. They didn't want to deal with the Lawrence family if they found out they were still seeing their future daughter-in-law.
"Are you sure? Okay, I'm relieved to hear that because I can't get away from your beautiful face, Valeria. Your beautiful blue eyes and red hair are like a blazing fire, you look so beautiful and hot."
Valeria chuckled when she heard this, then replied to Danny's compliment to make him feel good. Especially a woman who craved compliments like her.
In the middle of their romantic date, a call came in to Valeria's cell phone, which surprised her. She didn't recognize the number, so she thought it wasn't important and turned it off.
However, the phone kept ringing repeatedly even though she had tried to reject the call. 'Tch, who keeps calling me?! How annoying, he's really bothering me!' Valeria thought irritably.
"Who called you? It seems like it was an important call since they called you repeatedly," Danny asked her.
"I don't know, maybe it was just someone messing around. It's so annoying," she replied irritably.
Danny smiled and held the hand of the woman sitting in front of him to comfort her. He said that if that number called again, he would answer it.
Sure enough, it didn't take long for the number to call again, and Danny answered the phone by picking up his cell phone.
"Hey, who are you?! Don't bother us! You freak!" he said, hurling harsh words.
But whatever the person on the phone said, Danny returned Valeria's cell phone to her. His face turned pale after listening to the person on the phone for a while. "He wants to talk to you."
"Who? Who's calling?" Valeria took her cell phone and put it to her ear. "Hello?"
"Hey ginger, why haven't you answered my calls, hm? Are you ignoring your future husband?" asked a man on the other end of the line.
From the way the person addressed her, Valeria knew who was talking to her. "You—! What do you want from me?!"
A faint, dark laugh came from the phone. "What's wrong with me calling my naughty fiancée? I'm busy working, but you're busy playing behind my back. It seems like I'm a bad fiancé because I can't watch you 24 hours a day," said Dominic.
Hearing that, Valeria snapped back at Dominic. She said that he was always watching her, wherever she went, even when she went to the mall with her friends, Dominic was always there. As if he always knew where she was and was following her.
"Listen to me, you jerk! Stop following me! I'm not your wife yet, so don't even think about forbidding me or interfering with my life right now, you understand?!" Valeria asked in a threatening tone.
"Is that so? But unfortunately, ginger, I'm already here to meet my difficult to control future wife."
Danny's eyes widened in surprise when he saw a tall man standing behind Valeria. The man had sharp brown eyes and was staring at him with a cell phone pressed to his ear.
"V-Valeria..." Danny pointed behind the woman.
She turned around and found the man on the phone standing behind her all along. A smirk appeared on his face as he glanced at his future wife.
He moved the phone to his mouth and said, "Hello, honey." Before finally turning off the phone and putting it in his pocket.
"You... What are you doing here?!" Valeria asked as she stood up from her chair and approached Dominic.
"What's wrong with wanting to see you? You know how much I miss you, ginger?" Dominic's hand caressed Valeria's cheek, which she immediately pushed away roughly.
She pointed at Dominic's face, something no one else would dare to do to a man from the most powerful mafia family in the country. And if anyone did, it would only be Valeria.
Everyone was shocked to see Valeria scolding Dominic in front of everyone, making them even more afraid to look at her. Especially when they thought about Dominic's reaction later. He could get Valeria into big trouble.
However, the man said nothing and instead smiled. He grabbed Valeria's wrist that was pointing at him and pulled her waist until their bodies touched each other.
"What are you—"
The red-haired woman gasped in surprise as the mafia boss suddenly pulled her waist toward him. Dominic then leaned close to Valeria's ear and whispered.
"You look even more tempting when you're angry, love."
