Evie was frightened.
Westley said, "You almost scared the hell out of me." He sighed. The rigid lines on his face smooth out. "The way you looked made me think you were going to ditch the marriage contract."
Evie blinked, looking completely dumbfounded.
Westley looked straight into her eyes. He grabbed her hands. "I knew you were an illegitimate daughter of the Yong family after I got your details from the internet."
"I just felt it didn't matter. You're human, aren't you? Being illegitimate doesn't mean you're bad like your half-sister or so worthless like your stepmother. Being illegitimate makes you uniquely different from everyone else. You're special, I know, and saw it deep inside you, the moment you proposed to me in front of the Marriage Bureau."
Evie's heart bloomed.
