Chapter 13 - CHAPTER 13 : LIGHT AT PEAK OF THE VOID

Chapter 13: Light at Peak of the Void

The 30th floor of Mandiri Tower shuddered violently. It felt as if the very foundations of the skyscraper were screaming against the clash of two entities fighting beyond the limits of reality. On one side stood Arlan, lungs burning, his bronze armor cracked and splintered to reveal skin interlaced with unstable, flickering blue mana circuits. Across from him, Arachne: The Phase-Shifting Broodmother clung to the shattered glass walls, her ten sensor eyes glowing with a deep, digital hatred.

Screeeeeeekkk!

The monster's shriek sent visible sonic ripples through the air, pulverizing the remaining office furniture. Before Arlan could even find his footing, the Broodmother triggered another Glitch Step. Her massive form vanished into a distortion of black pixels, only to reappear directly above his head.

"Again?!" Arlan hissed. He didn't jump back. Instead of retreating, he drove his Azure blade into the concrete floor beneath him. "Elemental Burst: Frost Nova!"

A wave of pure frost erupted from the point of impact, flash-freezing the marble floor in a five-meter radius. The Broodmother's steel legs, just as they touched down, were instantly encased in thick ice, locking her in place for a few precious seconds.

Arlan didn't waste a heartbeat. He redlined his Ancient Magic Circuit to the breaking point. A searing heat surged from his neck to his fingertips, but he pushed through the pain. His eyes were locked on the broodmother's swollen underbelly, where the monitors on her back pulsed with the brightest red light—her weak point.

"Take this! Triple Infusion: Hellfire Bolt!"

It was a technique he'd never dared to try. Arlan fused fire, lightning, and a concentrated burst of pure mana into one massive vertical slash. The blade ignited into a blinding, white-orange glow, tearing through the air with the roar of a jet engine.

SLASH!

The strike landed dead center on the Broodmother's belly. An explosion of steam and raw code sprayed outward, but the Level 30 Elite wasn't finished. Even mortally wounded, she spat out a mass of corrosive, blood-red webbing that coated Arlan's entire field of vision.

"Dammit!" Arlan was pinned. The webbing began to eat through his armor and skin, a searing Damage over Time effect that felt like being dipped in acid.

[ Warning: MP 5% — Mana Burn! ]

Arlan dropped to one knee on the ruined floor. His vision began to fray at the edges, peppered with dark spots from sheer exhaustion. Before him, the Broodmother—now missing half her legs—dragged herself closer with her last bit of strength, ready to sink her steel fangs into his throat.

"Arlan...?"

A soft voice, barely more than a whisper on the wind, cut through the chaos. It came from the data crystal in the center of the room.

Arlan looked up with the last of his strength. The octagonal crystal was spider-webbed with deep cracks from the shockwaves of his last attack. A blinding golden light suddenly erupted from the fissures, sweeping away the darkness and the corrosive webs that bound him.

Maya stood there. Her feet didn't touch the ground; her white dress drifted on a current of pure, holy aura. Her eyes were open now, glowing with a wisdom and power that transcended any player in Jakarta. She was no longer just a girl to be protected; she was the High Priestess, awakened.

"Arlan, don't give up!" Maya cried out. She raised her staff of light, channeling a beam of pure gold straight into him.

Arlan felt a surge of incredibly cool energy flood every broken cell in his body. His wounds closed instantly, and his mana overflowed far beyond its normal capacity. He stood tall, his Azure sword transforming—the blade extending into a translucent, shimmering blue light.

"Thanks, Maya. Now, let's end this nightmare!"

Arlan moved. He was a blur of blue light bouncing between the pillars, far too fast for the Broodmother's sensors to track. Every time he passed, another of the spider's legs was severed with terrifying precision.

One final leap. Arlan hung high in the air, framed against the fractured Jakarta sky. He reversed his grip, pointing the tip of his blade down at the monster's head.

"Ultimate Skill: Azure Judgement!"

The impact created a pillar of blue light that pierced all the way down to the ground floor of Mandiri Tower. The Broodmother didn't even have time to shriek; her massive body disintegrated into white data dust that scattered across the room, leaving behind a single, deep-purple core crystal.

Arlan landed gracefully, but he didn't care about the victory notifications. He sprinted toward Maya as she drifted back to the floor. She smiled, tears of relief tracing her cheeks as she saw him standing before her.

"Arlan... you actually came," Maya whispered, reaching out a hand.

"I promised I would, didn't I?" Arlan reached for her.

But just before their fingers could touch, the world seemed to grind to a halt. The sky above turned a deep, bruised crimson. A massive warning window materialized between them, blocking her face, blocking the hope he had just found.

[ Executing Protocol: FORCED TELEPORT TO HIGH-LEVEL ZONE... ]

"What?! No! Just a little longer!" Arlan screamed in panic.

His body began to fracture into millions of transparent blue particles. A violent, gut-wrenching pain flared through him, as if his soul was being ripped from his flesh.

"Arlan! What's happening to you?!" Maya screamed. She tried to throw her arms around him, but her hands passed right through his fading form. "Don't go! Please, don't leave me again!"

"Maya! Listen to me!" Arlan roared over the deafening howl of the teleportation wind. "Stay here! Find a safe place to hide! I'll come back for you... I swear, I'll break this system and save you!"

"ARLAN!!!"

Maya's scream was the last thing he heard before his world went white. The sensation of falling into a bottomless pit claimed his consciousness, dragging him across thousands of kilometers in seconds—away from his home, away from everyone he loved.

[ Notice: Welcome to the City of Champions. Survival is the only law. ]

The impact of the Forced Teleportation hit Arlan like a titan's hammer, shattering every atom of his physical and digital self. His consciousness was stripped down into fragile lines of binary before being forcibly reassembled at entirely foreign coordinates. In the middle of that agonizing transfer, Arlan didn't manifest in the real world immediately. He was held in a void—a white, static transition zone accessible only to those who had broken through their regional level caps.
