POV: Scarlett Mitchell
The street is too bright.
That's the first thing Scarlett thinks when she opens her eyes in the hospital room. The sun is coming through the window and it's burning her eyes and everything hurts.
She doesn't remember how she got here.
Her arm is in a cast. White and stiff against her body. There's bruising on her ribs that she can see under the hospital gown. Purple and yellow and ugly.
She tries to sit up and stops immediately. Pain shoots through her side.
Okay. Sitting up is bad.
Scarlett lies back and tries to remember.
Elle's office. She was leaving Elle's office. There were photographers outside. People yelling her name. Questions about Cameron. Questions about whether she was being manipulated. Questions about whether she was a victim or a gold digger or both.
