Damien's voice was calm, almost indifferent, as he spoke the moment he reached the door. Without sparing her another glance, he stepped out and shut the door behind him with a loud, echoing bang that made Aria flinch.
Silence followed.
I really need to get the hell out of here soon… before that motherfucker fulfills his promise by granting me death, Aria thought inwardly, releasing a shaky breath.
Her shoulders slumped as exhaustion washed over her. Without wasting any more time, she turned and made her way into the bathroom. The moment the cold water touched her skin, she let out a quiet sigh as she felt relaxed and refreshed.
Minutes later, she stepped out, dried herself, and slipped into something comfortable before heading to bed.
Carefully, she lay down, her movements slow and deliberate. Her hand instinctively found its way to her stomach, resting there protectively.
