Chapter 14: The Heartbeat of the Tide

On the jagged northern cliffs, the air was thick with the smell of salt and the rhythmic thrum of the ocean. This was the site of the Hydro-Chakra Generator, the project that would prove Rimon's theory: that the Uzumaki didn't need to be human batteries for the world if they could harness the world itself.

Under Rimon's direction, the clan had carved a massive vertical shaft into the cliffside, leading down into a natural sea-cavern where the tides were most violent.

The Prodigy's Breakthrough

While the Elders handled the heavy masonry, Kushina was in the center of the construction pit. She wasn't alone. Surrounded by fifteen identical versions of herself, she looked like a one-girl army.

Without the influence of a Tailed Beast, her chakra felt different—cleaner, warmer, and fiercely vibrant. It was the pure "Life Force" that made her lineage famous. At first, her clones had been unstable, reflecting her volatile temper. But Rimon had taught her to treat chakra like the tide: it doesn't just crash; it flows.

"Keep the ink steady!" the 'Prime' Kushina shouted, her face smudged with sealing ink.

Her clones moved in perfect synchronization, their brushes dancing across the massive steel turbine blades. They were engraving Kinetic-to-Chakra Induction Arrays, a complex geometry Rimon had adapted from ancient scrolls and modern physics.

"She's finding her rhythm," Ashina whispered, standing beside Rimon on the observation deck. He looked at the girl with a mixture of pride and awe. "To maintain that many clones while performing high-precision sealing... her natural reserves are reaching heights I haven't seen since the days of Mito-sama's youth."

"She isn't just a loudmouth, Old Man," Rimon said with a small smile. "She's the heart of this project."

The Awakening

The sun began to set as the final turbine was lowered into the churning white water of the cavern. Rimon stepped forward, his Observation Haki feeling the tectonic weight of the ocean pressing against the steel blades below.

"Everyone, clear the pit!" Rimon's voice echoed through the Resonance-speakers.

He jumped down onto the central platform, his hand hovering over the 'Master Seal'—a complex interface designed to bridge the gap between the mechanical rotation of the blades and the spiritual energy of the village's grid.

"Old Man, give me the ignition pulse!"

Ashina slammed his palms onto the copper-inlaid floor, sending a surge of pure Uzumaki chakra into the transmission lines to jump-start the system. Deep below, the massive blades caught the first surge of the incoming evening tide.

Gronnnnn—

The mountain itself seemed to vibrate. The blades spun—slowly at first, then with a terrifying, high-pitched hum as they fought the weight of the sea. On Rimon's interface, the dark ink began to glow with a brilliant, neon blue light.

The Power of the Sea

A wave of visible energy rippled through the copper wiring Rimon had laid throughout the village. In the distance, the street-lamps—reconverted with glowing chakra-crystals—flickered to life. The "Resonance Seals" in every home buzzed with a steady, effortless power.

For the first time, the Uzumaki didn't have to drain their own life force to keep the village's sensory net or basic barriers active. The ocean—their eternal neighbor—was doing it for them.

The workers in the pit let out a ragged, exhausted cheer. Kushina's clones vanished in a synchronized cloud of white smoke, leaving the original girl standing there. She was panting, her hair a mess, but she had a triumphant, toothy grin that could outshine the lighthouse.

"We did it, Rimon-baka! The water... I can feel it humming in the floor!"

Rimon walked over and caught her shoulder as she swayed slightly from the mental feedback of the vanished clones. "You did it, Kushina. You just gave this village a heartbeat that never gets tired."

The Calm Before

As the blue light of the generator reflected in his obsidian eyes, Rimon felt a temporary sense of peace. They had the grain, they had the iron, and now they had the power.

But as he looked out at the dark horizon, his Kagura's Mind's Eye twitched. Far out at sea, beyond the reach of the lighthouse, the "oil-slick" feeling of malice was finally moving. The Three-Nation Alliance was no longer a distant threat. They were a shadow on the water, and they were finally closing in.

"Enjoy the light for tonight," Rimon whispered to the village. "Because tomorrow, we test if the shields can hold back the world."
