Chapter 36 THE INNER SPACE
Some moments later, the strange excitement died down, and Roman went back to his meditation.
Miss Amy continued her lecture.
"When a child awakens, a spirit beast forms a contract with the child, therefore the child evolves beyond the natural state.
The Spirit beast then creates its home inside the host. Have you ever wondered were your spirit beasts comes out when you summon them?"
She asked.
"I thought they appear when needed"
Carl said.
"Nope. They create what we call an Inner Space, deep in your consciousness, like a personal habitat.
Now of all the things I've said, this is the bottom line. Through deep meditation, a Beast Master can transport the mind into the Inner Space to see and communicate with their spirit beasts, and that, is your first lesson"
"Wow, we can really do that?"
Bryon said.
"Yes. This is the first step in becoming a stronger Beast Master. You must understand the nature of your beast by communicating and understanding it."
She suddenly frown
"Not summoning it whenever you feel like in to fights. They are not tools, but living creatures. Defending their host is part of their job, and if a beast master was to die, the spirit beast will return to its original home."
The students nodded in understanding.
"Good, you will now make attempts to transport your mind into your Inner Space.
Meditating is can be very difficult due numbers of things running around, especially for young ones like you with wild imagination"
She chuckled.
"Now close your eyes and concentrate. Then begin to circulate your spirit energy around your lower dantian while thinking of your spirit beasts. Clear your mind "
She began to guide them through the process.
Roman opened his eyes and stared at the students. Some where struggling with unnecessary thoughts, it was obvious.
"Sir Derrick didn't teach us this stuff. Maybe because I don't have my spirit beast yet"
He thought
"That doesn't mean I can't try it. Meditation, energy circulation, I'm a pro at it myself "
He closed his eyes and in a short second, his mind became clear, blocking the entire world, sound, and smell around him.
'Lets go see that Tiger..
Those we his last thoughts.
Normally whenever Roman meditates, he's ears and perception spreads all over, covering large distance like a third eye.
But this time, he decided to shut down all senses and focus deep within.
He could see his spirit energy circulating with his meridians, his ringed core and four spirit cores floating in a pool of spirit energy in his lower dantian, and a ball of white energy floating within his middle dantian, like a second heart, with white thin veins stretching from it connected to every part of his body.
The was the source of his beastly strength.
But today, for the very time, he looked deeper beyond himself, and suddenly he felt his subconscious slip, as if being pulled by a strange force, something akin to sleep.
At first he resisted.
Then slowly, he accepted, and the strange force pulled him in, and everything went blank.
Roman suddenly snapped his eyes opened, and he gasped.
He was no longer in Avalon academy.
The skies were dark, but illuminated by tiny red stars, spread endlessly across the horizons.
Visible red lightning flash across on occasions, brightening the world with a strange glow.
At one side, a red ringed moon shone, with four other smaller moons hovering in a semi circle around it.
And at the another side, a lone white moon stood, slowly pulsating.
"Wow.."
Roman marvelled at the outer worldly space. It felt like a dream, but strangely real.
He looked down to see that he was standing on a dark sea of water, which reflected the sky.
He couldn't see beyond the sea, so he bent down and dipped his hand into the water. The water was cool to the touch and he could tell that the water had a bottomless depth, yet he was standing on top without sinking.
Roman stood straight as the soft wind from nowhere washed over him.
Of course he knew where he was, this was his Inner Space.
His entrance to the Inner Space was successful at first try.
"So i really do have an Inner Space, but I don't have a spirit beast yet, how's that possible?"
He said
"Wait , if I have an Inner Space, then that means.."
His eyes suddenly widened.
Roman turned around and finally noticed a small island, some distance away, floating on the dark sea.
He smiled widely.
"Well I'll be damned"
Roman walked across the sea, leaving subtle ripples in his wake.
He took his time to admire the Space and slowly merged two and two together.
The ringed moon in the sky was actually his ringed core and the other four smaller moons were the spirit cores.
The red lightning that flashed in the sky was his elemental ability, and the lone white moon was his beastly energy.
Roman felt a deep connection with the strange space, it was hidden deep within his subconscious after all.
Soon, he reached the island.
