CHAPTER 59
DAY TWO
The heavy rain drops showed no signs of stopping.
The rain didn't just fall, it descended, as though the heavens themselves had grown too heavy with sorrow and could no longer bear the weight.
Each drop struck the earth with quiet violence, drumming against stone, steel, and skin alike, until the world became a symphony of relentless echoes.
The night was cloaked in storm, the sky torn open by jagged veins of lightning that flashed and vanished just as quickly, leaving behind a darkness deeper than before.
Thunder rumbled like a hungry beast, and lightning flashed across the sky, illuminating the academy courtyard on occasions.
The sounds of steel clashing against steel rung as two figures fought, as if their lives depended on it.
One was taller and muscular, shirtless even with the heavy rain fall and cold wind.
His body glowed with green aura as he clashed his blade with his opponent with passion, excitement, and a growing intent.
His great sword swinging with sharpness as if cutting the falling rain.
His technique was crude, an obvious greenhorn in the way of the sword, but his great strength and agility covered up for the lack of skill.
His opponent, glowing with dark blue aura, and a strange fire in his eyes.
He was also shirtless, not minding the rain at all.
His muscular body shifted with great flexibility and skills, but just like his opponent, his skills with the sword was also crude, a greenhorn.
But that didn't mattered, he let his pride and his drive to get stronger, pushed him to willed the blade with a descent manner.
At times, he would coat his double edged sword with blue flames to deal more damage, but his opponent was more resilient than usual.
But Billy didn't mind...
To him, Lan was always a great training partner, even if he refuses to say it openly.
Lan and Billy had been training for hours with out breaking.
Even when the rain descended, it gave them more feel.
More drive..
More trill..
It was fun..
But it was intense...
They both pushed off from each other , creating some distance.
Their breath rough, with chest heaving up and down.
As they focused their energy within themselves, their fast beating heart slowed down to a steady pace.
They both smiled , ready to clash again.
"Do you still got enough spirit energy for more rounds?"
Billy smirked.
"You should no who you're talking to"
Lan chuckled.
His aura surged and his chest armor materialized from sparks fitting his body.
Billy smirked.
"You're playing with fire"
Two guantlets materialized from his finger tips all the way to his elbows.
He gripped the sword tightly and took a stance
For a moment, neither spoke again.
Then...
They moved.
The ground cracked beneath Lan's first step as he surged forward, his greatsword swinging in a wide, devastating arc.
The green aura exploded outward, carving through the rain itself, sending droplets scattering like shattered glass.
The strike was not meant to test.
It was meant to end.
He knew Billy's pride could handle such attack.
Billy was already in motion.
He slipped aside with fluid grace, his body moving as though guided by instinct alone.
The massive blade passed within inches of him, close enough for him to feel the force of it tug in the air.
In the same breath, his own sword flashed upward, a precise, quick strike aimed at an opening that lasted less than a heartbeat.
Steel met steel.
The clash rang out like thunder.
A burst of green and blue energy erupted where their blades connected, light flaring so brightly it momentarily outshone the lightning above.
The force of the impact sent ripples through the flooded ground beneath them, water splashing outward in violent waves.
They broke apart just as quickly.
No hesitation.
Again.
Billy pressed forward relentlessly, each swing of his greatsword carrying enough force to split stone.
His attacks were overwhelming, driven by raw power and unwavering intent.
His green aura surged with every strike, growing brighter, fiercer, as though feeding on his resolve.
But Billy did not falter.
He moved between those devastating blows like a whisper between storms.
Every step was deliberate, every motion precise.
Lan had greater strength obviously, but Billy did not meet power with power, he redirected it, guiding each attack away by the smallest margins.
His blue aura pulsed violently, mixed with slightly blue flames, never once losing its rhythm.
To an outside observer, it might have seemed uneven.
One was strength and destruction.
The other was quick and swift.
But neither yielded.
Their blades met again and again, each clash sending sparks and light cascading into the rain-soaked night.
For a brief moment, something flickered in Lan's eyes.
Then it was gone.
He smirked.
With a surge of power, he forced the blades apart and stepped back, raising his greatsword high.
The green aura roared to life, spiraling upward like a pillar of light, illuminating the storm in vivid emerald.
And brought it down in a downward cut.
The world seemed to split.
The strike carved through the air with unstoppable force, tearing a path through rain and wind alike.
The ground itself fractured beneath its descent, unable to withstand the sheer power behind it.
There was no dodging this.
No redirecting it.
Only one choice remained.
Billy closed his eyes for the briefest instant.
Then he stepped forward.
His aura surged, not outward, not violently, but inward, condensing, sharpening, focusing into something impossibly precise.
The soft blue light intensified, becoming almost blinding in its clarity.
And he struck.
Their blades met at the exact moment the greatsword would have completed its strike.
The impact was..
Silence.
For a heartbeat, the storm itself seemed to pause.
Green and blue energy collided, intertwined, clashed, and then exploded outward in a blinding flash that swallowed everything.
