CHAPTER 60

DAY TWO 2

When the light faded, the rain returned.

Still heavy.

Unforgiving.

The two figures stood where they had been.

Neither had fallen.

But something had changed.

They were out of energy.

The last attack emptied them completely.

Their swords remained locked, trembling slightly from the force of the collision.

Water dripped from their blades, from their hands, from their faces.

Slowly, almost reluctantly, they pulled apart.

No victory.

No defeat.

Only breath.

The storm raged on.

Lan lowered his weapon first, the green aura, dimming, then vanished.

"…You've gotten stronger," he said quietly.

Billy let out a breath as his aura disappeared.

As if on cue, they both dropped and sprawled on the ground.

Completely drained.

The rain continued to fall between them, washing away nothing and everything.

And though neither spoke it aloud, both understood.

The fight had not ended.

It was to be continued.

The rain continued to fall, washing away their sweat and cooling them down.

A bright light suddenly shone in their midst and sir Brock appeared.

He looked down at the both of them with a smirk.

Lan and Billy became tensed.

"Is it morning already?"

Lan hesitated to say.

Sir Brock looked at them for a while then let out a chuckle.

"You two first years are interesting"

He said.

"Come find me later if you can"

"Really?"

Lan smiled.

"That doesn't mean I would let you skip the morning drills"

Sir Brock laughed and walked away.

"I guess we're coming in last place today"

Lan smiled.

"You wish"

Billy scoffed as he sat up right.

He closed his eyes and began to circulate his energy.

Energy circulation also helps to recover used energy.

Lan sat upright and followed suit.

************

Some moments later, the first years began trooping in their numbers.

Their faces showing clear discomfort under the harsh weather.

It felt like the gods had a problem with them today.

Roman Lunar and Sylver arrived after some moments. Their bodies were still dry even in the rain.

The students who noticed, frown with detest.

Sarah and Erica walked towards them at first sight.

As they did, Sylver expanded the forcefield over them.

"That really is a handy ability to have"

Erica said.

"I thought so too"

Lunar smiled.

"I can't believe they would make us train under the rain. I am not a fan of water. cats don't like water."

Sarah expressed her discomfort as she squeezed water from her hair.

"Where you guys up all night?"

She asked.

"Yeah, just handling some research"

Roman replied.

The space around them distorted and Anya appeared, clad in black leather.

Surprised, her body was not wet.

"How long have you been standing there?"

Roman smirked.

He had felt her presence for a while now, even at the Library, but pretended not to notice.

"A while"

She replied without looking at him.

Anya was becoming fond of their presence, but she refused to admit it, even to herself.

Carl and Bryon walked up to Lan and Billy who still sat with eyes closed and focused on recovering quickly.

"Don't tell me you guys stayed up all night"

Carl said.

"Yep, it was fun "

Lan replied.

"We're trying to recover before we get teleported"

"Will you guys be able to keep up?"

Bryon asked.

"Don't mock me"

Billy scoffed.

"Okay then..."

A white light suddenly shone, covering the whole courtyard.

"Here we go again"

Few seconds later, they all disappeared.

At the desolate canyon, the weather was also wild with the rain.

The first years appeared and was welcomed by it again.

"Great, more rain"

Sarah complained.

Sylver's forcefield had disrupted during the teleportation.

Sir Brock appeared on top of a boulder.

The rain skimming through his white hair.

"Welcome to day two first years"

He began.

"I ain't giving no speech"

He snapped his fingers and a large box appeared.

"You know what to do"

Roman and the others let out a smirk as they rushed forward .

Day two of Avalon academy had begun.
