Sophia lost her husband 10 years after marriage leaving her and daughter, Juliet who was the same age as Angela. Unfortunately,her husband's family blamed her husband's demise on her and took away the company and house they lived in.
After having nowhere to go, Susanna felt pity on her bestfriend and allowed them to move to one of the houses under her name which was next to her home making them neighbors. This made Sophia and her daughter frequent visitors in their home and Juliet became Angela's playmate growing up. But Susanna didn't know she invited scorpions into her home.
Sophia always felt that everything Susanna owns including her husband and the life she was living was supposed to be hers. So when Susanna passed away,she celebrated for the whole day. Her daughter was just like her mother,she was always jealous of Angela for being a rich pampered heiress while she was raised by a single mother who spends the night with men in other to take care of them.
She secretly resented her mother and sometimes screamed at her "why can't you be like Susanna,why aren't you the one married to Hance,you are the reason why I'm suffering,my classmates sometimes laugh at me for not having a father,you are so useless", this will make Sophia cry silently while her resentment towards Susanna kept growing even after her death so she planned on becoming the next Mrs Thorne.
She used Angela who had lost her mom and was craving for affection to get close to Hance. She succeeded after three years and became Mrs Thorne.
Sophia always appeared to be a gentle, soft spoken and kind lady so Angela didn't resist much when her dad introduced her to be her stepmom three years after her mom's death. She infact was a little happy because she felt lonely and was craving for love because her dad, Mr. Hance tried to numb himself with work after his wife's death leading to not giving his daughter much affection. He might've felt guilty which is why he married Sophia to take care of Angela and to have Juliet as her playmate. But Angela didn't know these mother and daughter was the beginning of her nightmare.
Everything was fine for the first few weeks after Sophia and her daughter moved in, she was a perfect mother who showered Angela with affection even more than her own daughter. Sophia together with Juliet decided to spoil her to become addicted to drugs, skipping classes and going to night clubs while Juliet became the perfect daughter many parents used to set good examples for their children.
Although Angela often skipped classes and sometimes goes to the nightclub, she never took drugs but Juliet wanted her life completely ruined. So she schemed against her and had her addicted to drugs. Angela recalled how she run to the club in order to "save" Juliet leading her to fall completely into the premeditated scheme causing her to be pushed further into her doom and making her father to completely be disappointed in her.
'And dad for the first time in my life slapped me', Angela muttered clutching her cheek.
"This time, I'll make her taste her own medicine", She vowed with a cold light flashing in her eyes.
Angela was snapped back to reality with a soft knock on the door. "Young miss, dinner is ready and Master is back", she heard the butler say.
"Alright Uncle Steve, I'll be down shortly", she replied.
She didn't know time has passed that quickly with her daydreaming. She quickly freshened up and left her room.
