Chapter 23 — Akio the Pervert?!
When the roulette pointer finally stopped, Akio stared at the result.
"…A toothbrush?"
He blinked.
Then stared again.
Still a toothbrush.
"What kind of cursed lottery is this?" Akio slammed his desk in frustration. "Why is there a toothbrush in the system lottery?!"
"Akio."
A calm voice interrupted him.
"I must remind you that this desk is public school property."
Tenya Iida pointed seriously at the table.
"You've cracked it slightly."
Akio froze.
"…Ah. Sorry."
He laughed awkwardly. He hadn't realized he had slammed the desk that hard.
"Even if we are friends," Iida continued sternly, adjusting his glasses, "I cannot tolerate destruction of school facilities."
Akio suddenly asked,
"Iida… do you have enough toothbrushes at home?"
"…Toothbrushes?"
Iida looked confused.
"Yes. I have plenty. Why?"
Akio casually pulled a white toothbrush from his pocket—the one he had just obtained from the system—and handed it over.
"This one's better."
"Take it home and try it."
Iida stared at the toothbrush in confusion.
"…Is it special?"
"You'll know when you use it."
Akio waved it off casually.
Honestly, he didn't know either. Maybe the system toothbrush had some hidden effect—or maybe it was just a normal toothbrush.
Either way, he didn't need it.
Iida accepted it hesitantly and left.
As soon as Iida walked away, Akio activated the system again.
Second lottery draw.
He held his breath.
"System reward: Quirk Enhancement Pill."
"Yes!"
Akio jumped up excitedly.
Finally something useful.
His strength would increase again.
Then the next reward appeared.
"System item obtained: Huangren Toothpaste."
"…What?"
Akio stared at the tube in disbelief.
"Toothbrush… and toothpaste?"
"So the next one will be a cup for rinsing your mouth?!"
His excitement instantly collapsed.
Several nearby students glanced at him strangely.
Why was he celebrating one moment and cursing the next?
Akio rubbed the back of his head awkwardly and left the classroom.
If he continued drawing the lottery here, people would definitely think he had lost his mind.
A few minutes later.
Inside the men's restroom.
Akio locked himself inside one of the stalls and continued the lottery.
Third draw.
"System item obtained: Quirk Supplement."
Akio held up a small red rectangular device about the size of a lighter.
A small mouthpiece protruded from the top.
"…Is this… an e-cigarette?"
After reading the system description, he realized his guess wasn't far off.
It worked similarly to an inhaler.
When a user's Quirk energy was exhausted, they could inhale from it.
Each puff restored their Quirk energy back to full capacity.
The device contained three uses.
Akio's eyes widened.
"That's actually amazing."
In the middle of a battle, if he exhausted his power, one puff could instantly restore him to peak condition.
That was practically a cheat item.
He spun the lottery again.
Fourth draw.
"System item obtained: Black Dress."
Akio stared at the item in his hands.
"…Seriously?"
A delicate black dress with elegant floral embroidery.
Beautiful.
High quality.
And completely useless to him.
"Why is there women's clothing in this system?!" Akio groaned.
The craftsmanship was clearly expensive.
But what was he supposed to do with it?
Walk into a clothing store and say:
"Excuse me, I found this on the street. Want to buy it?"
He'd get thrown out instantly.
Japan wasn't exactly famous for casual second-hand trading either.
Then a thought suddenly crossed his mind.
"…Maybe I should give it to Yaoyorozu Momo."
He grinned.
"She'd look incredible in this."
What Akio didn't realize…
In the restroom stall next to him, Minoru Mineta had just entered.
And he heard everything.
Mineta froze in horror.
"…That guy…"
"So he's after Yaoyorozu too?!"
Tears almost formed in his eyes.
Akio had everything Mineta didn't:
Height.
Looks.
Strength.
Confidence.
How could Mineta compete with that?
"This is impossible…" Mineta muttered bitterly.
From his perspective, Akio was clearly muttering to himself inside the restroom—laughing, complaining, plotting.
It looked incredibly suspicious.
"No."
"I must warn Yaoyorozu!"
"I can't let that villain trick her!"
Mineta clenched his tiny fists.
To him, Akio had become his greatest rival.
He didn't even consider Bakugo, Todoroki, or Midoriya rivals.
Those guys were focused on becoming stronger.
But Mineta lived in an entirely different world.
Creak.
Akio suddenly heard the door next to him open.
His eyes narrowed instantly.
He quickly stored the black dress back into the system inventory.
"Who's there?"
Mineta froze.
Oh no.
He had accidentally made noise while opening the stall door.
Akio stepped out and saw him immediately.
"Oh."
"It's you, grape boy."
Mineta tried to sneak away.
"Hello, Akio…"
Akio narrowed his eyes.
"You didn't make a sound while entering earlier."
"I didn't even know someone was in here."
Mineta couldn't answer.
Akio suddenly leaned closer.
"…You heard everything I said, didn't you?"
"AAAAAAH!"
Mineta screamed in panic and ran out of the restroom.
He dashed down the hallway shouting at the top of his lungs.
"Everyone be careful!"
"Akio Tatsuma is a PERVERT!!!"
Akio stood there in complete silence.
"…?"
"What the hell just happened?"
