Chapter 24 — A Misunderstanding
Minoru Mineta's shout echoed through the hallway.
"Akio Tatsuma is a pervert!"
His voice immediately attracted the attention of Class 1-A.
"What are you talking about?" Tenya Iida asked in shock as he stepped out of the classroom.
Several other students followed behind him, confused.
Mineta ran over with tears in his eyes.
"H-He… Akio… he's a pervert!"
Everyone froze.
"What?"
Mineta wiped his nose dramatically and pointed back toward the restroom.
"He was laughing and muttering to himself in there… and he said something about Yaoyorozu!"
"It was really suspicious!"
He spoke loudly, determined to plant a terrible reputation for Akio in everyone's mind.
If Akio's image collapsed, Mineta would have fewer rivals when it came to girls.
Unfortunately for him…
No one believed him.
"That's impossible," Iida said firmly, waving his hand.
"Akio can act strange sometimes, but I'm certain he isn't some kind of pervert."
"Exactly!" Mina Ashido added immediately.
"Akio is strong, confident, and popular. If he liked someone, he wouldn't need to act creepy."
"Yeah," Eijiro Kirishima agreed.
"You're exaggerating."
He lightly tapped Mineta on the head.
The sticky grape ball attached to Kirishima's hand instantly stuck there.
"…Ah."
"Hey! That's my Quirk!" Mineta shouted.
Still, his words had completely failed.
"Why won't anyone believe me?" Mineta almost cried.
Was Akio's reputation really that strong already?
At that moment, Akio himself appeared at the end of the corridor.
He walked over casually.
"What's going on here?"
Iida immediately approached him.
"Ah, Akio. Perfect timing."
"Mineta was just accusing you of being… well… a pervert."
"We were explaining that he must have misunderstood."
Akio rubbed his forehead.
Then he looked toward Mineta.
"Oh. That."
"I was watching a show on my phone earlier," Akio said calmly.
"I guess I was talking to myself and it bothered him."
"Sorry about that."
Mineta's eyes widened.
"You're lying!"
"You were talking about touching Yaoyorozu!"
Before Akio could answer—
Someone stepped forward.
Momo Yaoyorozu.
Her face had turned dark.
Without hesitation, she grabbed Mineta and threw him across the hallway.
Mineta rolled across the floor like a tiny purple bowling ball before finally stopping.
"I believe Akio," Yaoyorozu said calmly.
The hallway went silent.
Iida clapped his hands once.
"Well then! That settles it."
"Everyone, return to class. We are still in school hours."
The crowd quickly dispersed.
Akio let out a quiet sigh of relief.
That was close.
Next time he would definitely avoid talking to himself while using the system.
After the training exercises earlier that day, the atmosphere in Class 1-A had clearly changed.
Everyone seemed more motivated.
Among the students, Akio and Midoriya had become two major sources of inspiration.
Their determination and growth made the rest of the class feel as if they were already moving closer to becoming real heroes.
Although they weren't yet responsible for judging criminals, they could still protect others.
And that was the duty of a hero.
After school.
Akio walked toward the U.A. High School gate.
As soon as he arrived, he saw a large crowd.
Reporters.
They surrounded Midoriya and several other students, firing questions rapidly.
Akio immediately pulled a cap from his bag and lowered it over his face before walking forward.
He had no interest in interviews.
More importantly—
He didn't want to appear on television.
The League of Villains would start moving soon. Drawing attention now would only create unnecessary problems.
"Akio?"
Midoriya suddenly recognized him.
Even with the cap, Midoriya could tell from the clothes.
"You've mistaken me for someone else," Akio said calmly as he walked past.
Then he slipped through the crowd.
Unfortunately, one reporter noticed him.
A female reporter rushed forward with a microphone.
"Excuse me! As a U.A. student, could you tell us how the academy feels from the inside?"
"And why doesn't the school allow public access?"
Akio didn't even slow down.
He walked away.
The reporter frowned.
"Is this the attitude of U.A. students?"
Several reporters muttered angrily.
Midoriya stared at Akio's retreating figure.
He definitely recognized me…
So why pretend otherwise?
Was there some reason he wanted to avoid attention?
Using the excuse that he needed to visit the nurse, Midoriya slipped away from the reporters.
Meanwhile, the reporters continued questioning other students.
"What does it feel like to see the Symbol of Peace teaching in person?"
They pushed a microphone toward Uraraka.
"Uh… well…"
"He's… very muscular."
The reporters looked unimpressed.
They turned to Iida instead.
"What do you think of All Might as a teacher?"
Iida straightened his posture.
"Being taught by the Symbol of Peace allows us to understand the responsibility of heroes more clearly."
"His dignity, experience, and even his humor demonstrate what a true hero should be."
"Our opportunity to learn directly from him is invaluable—"
The reporters' eyes glazed over.
They clearly hadn't expected such a long answer.
"Sorry to interrupt…"
They quickly moved on.
Soon they found Bakugo Katsuki.
"Excuse me—weren't you involved in the Sludge Villain incident?"
Bakugo's face twisted.
"Shut up."
The reporters backed away slightly.
Eventually they tried questioning Aizawa Shota as well, but he dismissed them without interest.
In the end, U.A. activated its security barrier, blocking the reporters and forcing the crowd to disperse.
Not far away, behind a large tree, Akio had been quietly watching the entire scene.
Then he noticed something.
Behind the dispersing crowd stood a figure wearing black.
Hands… covering his body.
Akio's eyes narrowed.
"…So you really came."
Tomura Shigaraki.
Akio clenched his fist.
There wasn't much time left.
He had to grow stronger.
As quickly as possible.
And perhaps…
It was time to inform All Might about the threat that was coming.
Because once the villains began to move—
The Symbol of Peace would become their primary target.
