Chapter 32 - Chapter 32: Thunder Impact

Chapter 32: Thunder Impact

Akio's attack had one immediate effect.

It gave the class courage.

Wearing a Tiga Ultraman mask, a dark blue combat suit, and standing straight with lightning still fading from his hand, Akio looked absurdly cool.

Even Bakugo was caught off guard.

Akio had attacked first.

Right in front of him.

That alone irritated him.

Bakugo was just about to move when Thirteen stepped in.

"Do not engage!" she said sharply. "We do not know their strength or their full strategy yet. My responsibility is to protect all of you."

Her gaze shifted briefly toward Akio.

There was no approval in it, but no criticism either.

From what she had just seen, Akio's attack was undoubtedly powerful. But against the black Nomu, it had done nothing obvious. Which only made the enemy more dangerous.

Below, one of the villains sneered.

"So the intel was wrong? We were told the only real threats here were Thirteen and All Might."

Another laughed.

"And now some student is jumping in front of us like he's a hero already."

Aizawa dropped lower into the plaza.

"Quirk—Erasure."

His eyes flared red. In the same instant, the nearest villains lost access to their Quirks, and his capture weapon lashed out, slamming three of them aside before they could react.

One hooded villain with four arms charged straight at him.

"So you're the one who can erase Quirks just by looking?"

Aizawa slipped under the attack and drove a punch into his face.

"No," he said flatly, "I can't erase mutation-type Quirks like yours."

He shifted his stance.

"That's why I trained for hand-to-hand combat too."

Shigaraki watched with growing irritation, scratching at his neck.

"So annoying," he muttered. "A proper hero. Strong, disciplined, and in the way."

Then his eyes shifted toward the students.

"This is what heroes are, huh?"

He sounded almost offended by the idea.

At the top of the stairs, Akio read the situation quickly.

There were too many villains.

Aizawa could stall, but he could not protect everyone alone.

That meant the students needed to survive long enough to either regroup or escape.

The strongest among them mattered now.

Yaoyorozu stepped forward anxiously.

"What about the intrusion sensors?"

"U.A. has them," Thirteen answered immediately.

Todoroki's voice cut in, calm as ever.

"If they got in without setting them off, then someone on their side must be interfering with the system."

He kept staring at Shigaraki.

"They chose an isolated location. They knew our schedule. This was planned."

Aizawa nodded once.

"Thirteen, evacuate the students and contact the school."

Then he looked over his shoulder.

"Kaminari. Try to reach the communications system with your Quirk."

"Right!" Kaminari said, trying not to sound scared.

Midoriya stepped forward despite himself.

"Sensei, are you really going in alone? There are too many of them. Your fighting style isn't built for this kind of direct confrontation—"

"If I only had one trick," Aizawa said, cutting him off, "I wouldn't be a hero."

Then he launched himself straight into the villains.

Akio moved a hand toward his mask.

He adjusted it once.

Iida stared.

"Akio… why are you putting that on now?"

The others looked too.

The answer was obvious enough—he did not want to be easily identified later. But none of them could say that with certainty, and the result was just strange enough to be memorable.

Todoroki narrowed his eyes.

"You're going to fight."

Akio did not answer him directly.

Instead, he raised his palm and formed another sphere of lightning.

"Watch closely."

He threw it—not at Shigaraki this time, but into Kurogiri's body mass.

The strike hit a visible portion of the mist villain's frame.

Thunder Concussion.

It exploded in a tight burst.

Kurogiri staggered hard, his dark mist warping unevenly.

For the first time, the villain's composure cracked.

"That… hurt."

Akio's eyes sharpened behind the mask.

He already knew Kurogiri had a physical core hidden within the mist. Lightning, especially concentrated lightning, was one of the best ways to punish that weakness.

Kirishima and Bakugo reacted instantly.

They rushed in together, using Akio's attack as cover.

Bakugo blasted forward with an explosion while Kirishima hardened and drove straight into the opening.

A cloud of black smoke and warped air burst outward.

When it cleared, Kurogiri was still standing—but clearly damaged.

The yellow glow in his eyes flickered.

"It's incredible…" someone whispered from behind Akio.

He ignored it.

Kurogiri turned fully toward him.

Even through the mask, Akio could feel the change.

The villain had marked him.

"You," Kurogiri said, voice low and distorted, "are more troublesome than expected."

Before anyone could respond, his body expanded.

Dark mist spread across the stairs and over the students.

Iida, Mina, and a few others leapt back in time, but most of Class 1-A was swallowed whole.

Akio did not resist.

Not because he could not—but because this was the point where resisting would only expose too much.

The darkness swallowed him.

Then the world shifted.

When his vision cleared, hot wind hit his face.

Sand.

Ruins.

A desert zone.

Akio landed lightly and looked around.

He was alone.

Or rather—alone with almost forty villains.

Some were climbing out from the dunes. Others stepped from behind broken structures.

One of them laughed when he saw the mask.

"Look at this idiot. He's wearing an Ultraman mask."

Another grinned.

"Bad luck, kid. No one's going to save you here."

A third cracked his neck.

"Enough talking. Let's crush him."

Akio looked at them as if they were inconveniencing him.

"So that's your plan," he said. "Throw enough bodies at me and hope it works."

They didn't understand why he sounded so calm.

One of them finally barked, "Get him!"

Three villains rushed first.

Akio didn't move until they were almost on top of him.

Then lightning exploded around his body.

Blue arcs wrapped him from head to toe, turning him into a figure of crackling light.

The villains stopped short instinctively.

Akio's voice dropped.

"Today, I'll show you what real fear looks like."

He slammed both hands toward the sand.

"Thunder Impact — Maximum Output!"

The desert floor detonated with light.

Electricity raced through the sand in every direction, spreading outward in a wide radius. The ground itself became a conductor, turning the entire zone into a lethal field of violent blue current.

Screams erupted at once.

Villains convulsed, fell, and collapsed into the sand one after another.

The air filled with the smell of scorched cloth and panic.

A few tried to run.

Most never got the chance.

For a moment, the desert zone looked less like a battlefield and more like a storm had descended directly onto the earth.

And at the center of it stood Akio Tatsuma, masked and silent, surrounded by lightning.
