Chapter 8 - chapter 8

T

Trevor was excited. Finally, he would learn more about the creatures of this world.

Right after lunch, he and his grandfather headed to a room equipped with a blackboard and a projector.

Trevor looked around in surprise.

"Wow… how have I never found this room before?"

Lucius chuckled softly.

"Relax. It would still take you years to discover every corner of this mansion."

Trevor quickly took a seat at one of the desks.

Lucius stopped in front of the board and began to write.

Supernatural Creatures

When he finished, he turned toward Trevor.

"There are many supernatural beings. But we'll start with the most common ones: werewolves and vampires."

Trevor nodded, then raised his hand.

"Why are they the most common?"

Lucius answered calmly,

"For many reasons. But the main one is that you don't have to be born a werewolf or a vampire."

He crossed his arms.

"Anyone can become one… if they're bitten."

Trevor frowned.

"So there's no way out? If you get bitten, that's it—you become one of them?"

Lucius shook his head.

"In the case of werewolves, not necessarily."

He continued,

"You can be turned by werewolf . And not just through a bite, but also through a deep wound caused by their claws."

As he spoke, Lucius began pacing slowly across the room.

"That happens because of a kind of 'venom' present in a werewolf's claws and fangs. This venom alters the human body and initiates the transformation."

Trevor listened carefully.

"But there's a small chance the body resists."

Trevor raised an eyebrow.

"You mean… survive it?"

Lucius nodded.

"Yes… but it's extremely rare."

Then he added something that made Trevor even more curious.

"In some very rare cases, the person doesn't become a werewolf."

Trevor tilted his head.

"And then what happens?"

Lucius replied,

"The body may awaken another supernatural bloodline."

He paused briefly.

"But those cases are exceedingly rare."

Then Lucius wrote another word on the board.

Aconite

"If you're fast enough, you can use aconite to try to counteract the venom."

Trevor frowned.

"So that saves the person?"

Lucius shook his head.

"Not exactly."

He continued,

"That's a desperate measure. Aconite in high concentrations is poisonous to humans."

Lucius crossed his arms.

"In a few rare cases, someone has survived."

He sighed.

"But most of the time… they simply die."

Trevor grimaced.

"So the best method is not getting hit."

Lucius nodded.

"Exactly."

Then he added casually,

"Or, depending on the injured body part… you can always amputate."

Trevor's eyes widened.

"Uh… I'd rather not amputate anything, thanks."

Lucius laughed.

"In desperate times, people are capable of anything, my boy."

Trevor then asked,

"What about vampires?"

Lucius replied,

"With vampires, the situation is different."

He leaned back against the desk.

"Once someone is turned… there's no going back."

Trevor remained silent.

Lucius continued,

"However, it's harder to turn a hunter."

Trevor tilted his head.

"Why?"

"Because the transformation doesn't happen with just any bite."

Lucius pointed to his own neck.

"They must bite the neck and begin the blood-draining process."

Then he added,

"And even then, the vampire chooses."

Trevor frowned.

"Chooses?"

Lucius nodded.

"They decide whether to turn the person… or simply drink their blood."

Trevor nodded slowly.

"I see."

Lucius then turned on the projector.

An image appeared on the board—a hand-painted illustration of a werewolf.

"Lycanthropy. Better known as werewolves."

He pointed at the image.

"They are creatures capable of transforming into a hybrid between human and wolf."

Lucius raised three fingers.

"They possess three primary forms."

He pointed to the first slide.

"The first is partial transformation."

The image showed a man with claws and elongated fangs.

"They transform only certain parts of their body."

Lucius changed the slide.

"The second form is the partially lupine form."

Now the image showed a more complete werewolf.

"This is the initial stage of full transformation."

He continued,

"In this form, they are already far stronger than ordinary humans."

Lucius pointed at the image.

"Enhanced senses."

"Regeneration."

"Superior speed."

Then he switched the slide again.

The third form appeared.

Trevor felt his heart skip a beat.

He recognized it.

It looked exactly like the werewolves from that night.

"The third form is the most dangerous."

Lucius spoke seriously.

"When the werewolf manages to control their inner beast."

He continued,

"During the full moon, they achieve a balance between man and wolf."

The image showed a massive werewolf.

Humanoid body.

Wolf's head.

Covered in thick fur.

"This form drastically increases their strength, senses, and regenerative abilities."

Lucius sighed.

"Fighting one of these is… complicated."

Trevor stared at the image.

He tried to suppress the memories of that night.

Then he noticed something.

"Why are their eyes golden?"

Lucius answered immediately,

"Werewolves are extremely territorial."

He returned to the board and wrote two words:

AlphaBeta

"They usually live in packs."

He pointed at the image.

"Betas form the foundation of the pack. They have golden eyes."

Lucius then continued,

"Alphas are the leaders."

He looked at Trevor.

"They have red eyes."

That immediately stirred a memory in Trevor.

He frowned.

"But… if they're territorial…"

Lucius looked at him.

"Yes?"

Trevor continued,

"Why were there two of them that night?"

Lucius's expression darkened.

He remained silent for a few seconds.

"I don't know."

He looked down.

"There shouldn't be more than one Alpha in Boston."

He continued in a grave tone,

"That territory was considered safe."

His hands clenched slightly.

"The pack there wasn't hostile."

Lucius frowned, clearly debating whether he should continue.

After a few seconds, he sighed.

"There is… a rumor."

Trevor paid close attention.

"A pack composed entirely of Alphas."

Lucius continued,

"Hunters always believed it was just a story invented by werewolves."

He closed his eyes briefly.

"But… I learned the hard way that it might not be."

A small spark lit up in Trevor's mind.

But he said nothing.

He simply nodded.

Lucius took a deep breath.

"That's enough for today."

He pointed toward the door.

"Mr. Hans is already waiting for you at the training grounds."

Lucius turned off the projector.

"We'll continue tomorrow."

He left the room.

Trevor remained seated for a few seconds.

Thinking.

"I've seen this somewhere in my past life…"

he muttered aloud.

"But where?"

He thought for a few moments.

Suddenly, he lifted his head.

His eyes widened.

"The Alpha Pack… from Teen Wolf!"
