Trevor was lying in bed, sleeping deeply. It had been one of the best nights of sleep in his entire life. If he could, he would never leave that bed.
Beep. Beep. Beep.
"Ahhh…"
As much as he wanted to keep sleeping, the alarm clock refused to leave him alone.
Grumbling, he got up and went to look for the bathroom.
To his embarrassment, it took him almost ten minutes just to find it. The Belmont mansion was far too big for someone who had just arrived.
After finally taking a shower, Trevor grabbed some clothes from the wardrobe—prepared for him by one of the servants—and headed straight for breakfast.
When he arrived at the dining room, his grandfather was already there, drinking coffee while reading the newspaper.
"Good morning," Trevor said.
Lucius lifted his eyes from the newspaper.
"Good morning. It seems you really liked that bed."
Trevor gave a small smile.
"Yeah… if I could, I'd spend the whole day there. By the way, when did that alarm clock appear in my room?"
Lucius folded the newspaper.
"I figured you might like the bed a little too much, so I asked one of the servants to put it there."
"Oh… that makes sense."
Unlike the previous day, Trevor ate slowly.
After taking a sip of orange juice, he asked:
"So… do classes start today?"
"The teachers are already arriving," Lucius replied. "You'll have the regular subjects during the morning."
He paused briefly before continuing.
"And in the afternoon, I—or another instructor—will train you."
That immediately caught Trevor's attention.
"What are you going to teach me?" he asked excitedly. "Are we starting with swords? Or will you teach me how to use the whip? Or maybe how to fight a monster?"
Lucius looked surprised for a moment.
Then he started laughing.
"None of that, boy."
Trevor blinked in confusion.
"The first step will be physical conditioning."
He continued:
"We'll also have some theoretical lessons about the supernatural. You need to learn about monsters and their weaknesses."
Trevor made a face.
"But… what about the swords? And the whip?"
Lucius answered calmly.
"When you're older and stronger, you'll learn all of that."
He gave a faint smile.
"Don't worry. Everything has its time."
Slightly disappointed, Trevor went back to eating while mentally preparing himself for the lessons.
Unfortunately, the normal school subjects were still… normal.
Which meant boring.
Thankfully, Trevor had already gone through all of that in his previous life. Most of the material was already familiar to him.
That didn't make the classes any less tedious.
He had always been terrible at almost everything that wasn't mathematics or history.
Seriously.
In his previous life, physics, chemistry, and biology had been his worst nightmares.
When the classes ended, Trevor had lunch with his grandfather.
Afterward, Lucius took him to the training field behind the mansion.
The training began with several laps around the field.
Then came push-ups.
Sit-ups.
And more running.
While Trevor struggled to catch his breath, Lucius explained:
"Trevor, our bloodline is blessed with naturally stronger bodies."
He continued:
"A Belmont's physical potential is greater than that of an ordinary human."
Trevor wasn't surprised.
He had already suspected as much.
After all, there was no way normal people could fight creatures like Dracula—or even Death itself.
After some time, Trevor was lying on the ground on his back, completely out of breath.
His grandfather turned into a true commander whenever training was involved.
Lucius crossed his arms.
"Well… you still have a lot to improve."
He paused.
"But for now, this will do."
And so Trevor's new routine began.
During the morning, he had regular classes.
During the afternoon, physical training.
After a few weeks, Lucius decided to hire a professional trainer to take care of Trevor's physical conditioning.
The man would also teach MMA and jiu-jitsu.
And that was when Trevor realized that his grandfather wasn't nearly as strict as he had thought.
The trainer was much worse.
His name was Hans.
A short, bald German man with a permanent scowl on his face.
Trevor was certain that man was a true executioner.
Hans paid attention to every detail.
From Trevor's diet…
To his sleeping schedule.
Everything was strictly controlled and optimized.
It took Trevor some time to get used to it.
He had never been good with routines.
But skipping training simply wasn't an option.
Fortunately, as time passed, Trevor began to feel the physical potential of the Belmont bloodline awakening.
He was progressing quickly.
Which only made Mr. Hans even more excited.
Seriously.
The frightening smile that appeared on the trainer's face when he realized Trevor could handle heavier training was something Trevor would never forget.
Fortunately—or unfortunately—after three months of training, Lucius made a new announcement.
"The supernatural lessons will begin tomorrow."
Trevor's eyes immediately lit up.
Finally.
He would begin learning about the true world of the creatures of darkness.
