Chapter 66 - The Prison of Shadows

Chapter 62: The Frozen Truth

The howling in the distance grew louder, a haunting reminder that they were not alone. Elara kept her eyes fixed on Kael, the man she had once mourned. The air between them felt heavy, thick with the weight of years and unspoken secrets.

"If the Council of Elders is behind this, then why now?" Elara asked, her voice steady despite the chaos in her mind. "Why wait five years to reveal this puppet game?"

Kael leaned against a gnarled tree, his expression grim under the moonlight. "Because the bloodline is weakening, Elara. They need a true Alpha to maintain their power, and they thought they could mold you into one. But you weren't a puppet. You were a storm they couldn't control."

Elara looked at her hands. The same hands that had been stained with the blood of those she thought were her enemies. A cold realization washed over her—she had been a weapon in a war she didn't even know existed.

"So the Alpha... the man I've been trying to kill... he's just a distraction?"

"He's a prisoner of his own throne," Kael whispered. "But the real danger isn't in the palace. It's in the Forbidden Woods. Something is waking up, Elara. Something older than the pack itself."

Suddenly, the bushes rustled violently. A pair of glowing yellow eyes emerged from the darkness. It wasn't a wolf. It was something much larger, much darker.

Elara raised her dagger, the silver reflecting the crimson moon. "Then let it come. I'm done running from shadows."

"The mystery goes deeper! Do you think the 'something older' in the woods is a new enemy or an old legend? Also, do you believe Kael's story about the Council? Let me know your thoughts in the comments! Your support means the world to me."
