Melody's girlfriend was lovely. Her hair was dyed neon pink and cropped short. Her shirt matched Melody's. Their fingers knit together the moment they were within grabbing distance. Their layered bracelets clinked together like the windchimes on my porch back home.
"This is Thalia," Melody brought their entwined hands up and kissed the back of Thalia's hand. Her eyes were so warm, so in love, so Melody.
"I-I thought you were g-" I choked on the word 'gone'. I knew it didn't fit. She hadn't died. We weren't close when we left for college. 'Gone' would've implied being 'there' to begin with. What we were was more less than gone and more than known.
"I thought I was gone too," Melody sighed and sat next to Thalia. Thalia's eyebrows knit together in confusion and concern, "This is Lee…"
