Kay's hand slipped into mine the moment I finished locking the greenhouse door. The tips of his fingers were cold. He'd waited for me long enough for them to lose their warmth. My heart fluttered in my chest. I hoped he'd assume my cheeks were red from of the cold.
"What made you come by?" It was the worst question to ask a fuck-buddy. But I couldn't help myself.
"Just felt like it." Kay shrugged nonchalantly.
It stung more than it should've. In my heart I knew I'd agreed to this. Our arrangement was built on the basis of satisfying our sexual needs. Of course Kay would come to me if he were looking to blow off some steam.
"Did you see Xavier today?" I just couldn't stop myself from shoving my foot in my mouth.
Kay paused and turned away. I could see his jaw tighten and the corner of mouth crooked downwards.
"Yeah," Kay swallowed and let out a heavy breath. I was annoying him, "Why do you ask?"
