The wind blew gently across the broken platform of the floating temple as Arin, Mira, and the traveler prepared to leave. The storm that had filled the sky earlier was slowly fading, but the air still carried a heavy feeling of danger. The Master Emerald floated quietly behind them, glowing with a calm green light as if it was watching their every move.
Arin adjusted the strap of the small travel bag on his shoulder and looked toward the distant mountains.
"So that is Emerald Valley," he said quietly.
Far in the distance, beyond layers of mist and tall mountains, a faint green glow could be seen shining like a hidden star on the earth.
The traveler nodded.
"Yes. It is the safest place for the Master Emerald right now. Ancient Guardians once trained there, and its protective barriers are still active. If we reach it, the Emerald will be secure for some time."
Mira crossed her arms and looked at the path ahead.
The way down from the floating temple was not easy. Broken stone steps led toward a narrow mountain path surrounded by thick forest and deep cliffs. One wrong step could send someone falling into the endless sky below.
"Well," she said with a small smile, "standing here won't get us there."
Arin nodded.
"Let's go."
The Master Emerald slowly moved behind them, floating in the air and following Arin like a silent guardian.
The traveler tapped his staff on the ground, and a small glowing barrier formed around the Emerald to hide its energy.
"We must keep its power hidden," he explained. "Dark forces can sense it if we are careless."
They began walking down the ancient stone steps.
Each step echoed in the quiet air.
The forest below looked peaceful, but Arin could feel something watching them.
After several minutes of walking, they reached the ground level. The forest was dense and filled with tall trees that blocked most of the sunlight. The air was cooler here, and the sounds of birds and insects filled the environment.
But something felt wrong.
Too quiet.
Arin stopped walking.
Mira noticed immediately.
"What is it?"
Arin looked around carefully.
"I feel something."
The traveler slowly raised his staff.
"Yes… we are not alone."
The wind stopped suddenly.
The forest became silent.
Then, from behind the trees, dark figures began to appear.
One by one.
Five of them.
They wore black armor and carried sharp weapons. Their eyes glowed faintly red, and dark energy surrounded their bodies like smoke.
Mira stepped back slightly.
"Shadow soldiers."
The traveler nodded.
"Scouts sent by the shadow enemy."
One of the soldiers stepped forward and pointed his sword at Arin.
"Guardian of the Master Emerald," he said in a cold voice. "Surrender the Emerald, and your death will be painless."
Arin stepped forward calmly.
"That will never happen."
The soldier laughed.
"Then you will die here."
The soldiers rushed forward at once.
Arin jumped back and raised his hand.
"Emerald Shield!"
Green energy formed around him as the first soldier attacked. The sword struck the shield and bounced off with a loud metallic sound.
Mira moved quickly and kicked another soldier in the chest, pushing him backward.
The traveler raised his staff.
"Light Burst!"
A flash of bright energy pushed two soldiers away.
Arin focused deeply and felt the Master Emerald respond to him.
Green lightning surrounded his body.
"Emerald Strike!"
He rushed forward and punched one of the soldiers, sending him flying into a tree.
BOOM!
The soldier fell and disappeared into dark smoke.
Two more attacked from behind.
Mira shouted, "Arin!"
He turned quickly and blocked their attack with his arm, then released a wave of energy that pushed them back.
The traveler moved forward and trapped another soldier with light chains.
Only one remained.
The leader.
He stepped forward slowly and removed his helmet.
His face was pale and emotionless.
"You are stronger than expected," he said.
Arin clenched his fists.
"And you are weaker than I thought."
The leader smiled slightly.
"This is only the beginning."
He raised his sword, and dark energy gathered around it.
"Shadow Slash!"
A powerful wave of dark energy rushed toward Arin.
Arin jumped into the air.
"Emerald Burst!"
Green energy collided with the dark attack.
BOOOOM!
The explosion shook the forest.
When the smoke cleared, the leader was on his knees.
His armor was cracked.
He laughed weakly.
"You may win today… but the Shadow Lord is coming."
Arin stepped closer.
"Who is the Shadow Lord?"
The soldier smiled.
"You will find out… soon."
His body turned into dark smoke and disappeared.
Silence returned to the forest.
Mira breathed heavily.
"That was close."
The traveler looked serious.
"The enemy is already sending scouts. This means they know about our movement."
Arin looked toward Emerald Valley in the distance.
"Then we must move faster."
The Master Emerald glowed softly behind him.
Mira smiled.
"Let's keep going."
They continued walking through the forest, unaware that deep in the mountains, a massive dark army was already gathering.
And at the center of it stood a tall figure in black armor, watching the green glow in the distance.
"The Guardian is moving," he said.
A dark smile appeared on his face.
"Prepare the next attack."
