Chapter 25 - Frozen Code – The Peak of Rif

The ascent into the Rif Mountains was no longer a hike; it was a race against a localized blizzard. The air temperature had plummeted to -20°C, an artificial frost created by the sheer presence of The Frostbite. This Rank-S hunter was literally rewriting the local weather patterns to suit his combat style.

Jin's boots crunched through the snow, each step heavier than the last. His HUD was a mess of red flickering alerts.

"He's closing in, Jin!" Mi-na shouted inside his mind. "He's not just tracking your coordinates; he's freezing the very data streams I'm trying to use to hide you!"

Jin stopped near a jagged limestone cliff overlooking a deep, misty ravine near Chefchaouen. He turned around just as a massive wave of ice shards, sharp as diamonds, tore through the pine trees behind him.

Out of the white mist stepped a tall man with pale skin and eyes as cold as a glacial lake. He wore white tactical armor that seemed to absorb the moonlight. This was The Frostbite. In his hand, he held a crystalline spear that hummed with a low, sub-zero frequency.

"You've led me on quite a chase, Glitch," Frostbite said, his breath coming out as a thick cloud of ice. "But even a virus has to stop when the hardware freezes. Give me the Atlas Ring, and I might make your deletion painless."

Jin unsheathed the Atlas Blade. The golden metal glowed with a frantic warmth, struggling against the encroaching ice. "This land doesn't belong to your Association," Jin replied, his voice raspy. "And it certainly doesn't belong to you."

Jin lunged. He used [Glitched Step], but the air was so cold that the blue code platforms he created shattered instantly under his feet. He stumbled, and Frostbite's spear grazed his side, leaving a trail of frozen blood on his dark cloak.

"Your little tricks don't work in the absolute zero," Frostbite sneered. He slammed his spear into the ground. [Skill: Glacial Lockdown].

A massive dome of ice erupted around them, sealing Jin in a prison of translucent blue walls. The oxygen began to crystallize. Jin felt his heart rate slowing down. His vision blurred.

"Jin... use the Source," a voice echoed. It wasn't Mi-na. it was the echo of his father's voice from the ring. "The mountains aren't just rock; they are the original backup."

Jin closed his eyes. He stopped fighting the cold. Instead, he plunged the Atlas Blade deep into the frozen ground. [Skill: Regional Resonance – Deep Sync]

Suddenly, the ground beneath the ice began to glow with an ancient, earthy orange light. The limestone of the Rif began to vibrate. Jin wasn't just using his mana; he was drawing power from the tectonic plates of the region.

The ice dome cracked. A surge of geothermal energy, wrapped in Berber-like symbols, erupted from the earth. The heat was so intense that Frostbite's spear began to evaporate.

"Impossible!" Frostbite gasped, retreating as the ground beneath him turned into a glowing interface. "This isn't System-approved code! This is... Legacy Data!"

Jin stood up, his eyes glowing with the same orange light as the mountains. Behind him, a massive hidden stone door, carved into the very cliffside, began to grind open. It was the entrance to a Hidden Safe Zone, a sanctuary built into the "Source Code" of the land itself.

"This is my server now," Jin said, his voice echoing with the power of the mountains.

With one final swing of the Atlas Blade, Jin sent a wave of molten code toward Frostbite, forcing the Rank-S hunter to leap back into the abyss of the ravine. Jin didn't wait to see if he survived. He stepped into the darkness of the mountain, and the stone door slammed shut behind him.

Jin collapsed against the cold stone wall inside. He was safe, for now. But as he looked deeper into the cavern, he saw rows of ancient stone terminals flickering with life. He had found it—the first command center of the Atlas.

Jin has found a secret base, but the ancient terminals are displaying a countdown that he doesn't recognize.
