The ceiling opened and a gargoyle dropped down. It landed on the floor with a massive boom that shook the room when it landed. It was seven feet tall and was made entirely of stone. Its face was hideous like a goblin. It had massive pointy ears and razor sharp teeth and wings that were folded behind his back. The stone started to crack around its joints as it started to move.
Jason used fire step to get in close and test how durable the gargoyle is. He punched the stone with his bare hands and immediately felt pain in his hand. It felt like punching a brick wall.
VITALITY-1
Tha gargoyle countered by swiping his claws at Jason. Jason ducked under the attack as his hand was covered in flames. He punched the joint in the knee forcing the gargoyle to its knees. The gargoyle spread its wings and they slammed into Jason forcing him back. Jason was slightly hurt but managed to stay upright.
VITALITY-3
'This thing is all brawn and no brain,' Jason thought this as he evaded another blow. 'It's only redeeming quality is it's tough exterior. That makes it virtually impossible to damage through brute force unless one is strong enough.' He evaded another blow that was aimed for his head by twisting his body. 'Yet with that being said, everything has a melting point. All I need is to wait for an opening.' Jason thought while a smile forming on his lips.
Invidia and Sophia were watching Jason fight the gargoyle if you can even call it that. They were drinking their respective drinks that weee on the table as Jason dodge another attack that would have broken his arm.
"He's learning," Sophia said. "By now, he would have died twice. He's learning to anticipate the moves of the enemy and watch for an opening."
"I take it that it's normal for him to smile like this while he's fighting someone?" Invidia asked sipping her drink. Normally, people would think this is wine, but it is actually blood from a rat. Usually, Invidia would prefer to eat the rat, however, the school forbade her from doing so in public spaces for obvious reasons. So she must settle for this concoction instead.
"Yes. He is in fact a battle junkie."
"I see," Invidia replied as the gargoyle made another move.
The gargoyle extended its wings and flew to the sky. It then flew toward Jason with a claw forward trying to grab him.
Jason saw the opening he wanted and immediately countered. He used flame step to disappear in thin air and reappeared on the gargoyles back. Jason grabbed to gargoyle around the neck with one arm and had a hand on one of its wings. Then his arms were ignited into a brilliant white flame.
Jason took his flame manipulation skill and decided to compress it as much as he could to make his flames turn from an orange color to a pale white one. The gargoyle started to panic and frantically try to push Jason off. Jason's mana was dropping fast. He needed to end this soon.
Once the gargoyle stone like body glowed red where Jason touched it, Jason let go and used flame step again to appear in front of it. The gargoyle frantic with trying to get Jason off, had its arms raised behind his head when Jason threw a punch on the now red exterior on the gargoyles neck. The exterior cracked under the pressure and caved inward. Black blood splattered from the neck as the gargoyle roared in pain. It looked around for Jason, but Jason used flame step to vanish again and reappear behind the gargoyle. Jason punched the red wing of the gargoyle.
A massive piece of the wing shattered beneath the blow as the gargoyle was now crippled. Cracks started to appear around the exterior of the gargoyle. It was beginning to get really angry. It roared in anger as Jason's smile widened. "Time for the real fun to begin." He checked how much mana he had left while the gargoyle was roaring.

"I better finish this then. I have enough mana for one more attack. Gotta make it count."
Jason used flame step to appear on top of the gargoyle and grabbed its head with his hand. The heat of the flame left a red hand print on its head when the gargoyle grabbed Jason by the shoulder and threw him. Jason deactivated the white flames on his hands and used flame step one last time. The gargoyle turned around looking for Jason when a foot slammed into the red spot on its head. The blow pierced through the gargoyles tough exterior and entered its skull. The beast fell to the ground with a crash while Jason's foot was still in its skull. Black blood was leaking out of the head and started to cover Jason's feet. Jason quickly jumped back away from the corpse as the floor opened to claim its prize.

Jason had a massive grin on his face. Not from the experience the system gave him, but from the challenge that of the gargoyle. The gargoyle was faster than Jason gave it credit for and specialized in strength and defense. Jason managed to overcome that using his own strength. He felt proud of this achievement.
Sophia and Invidia watched Jason. Invidia looked astonished as someone who was a fledgling just a couple of days ago with very little knowledge about his power, managed to overcome a peak rank D gargoyle. Sophia was impressed by Jason's growth. He managed to defeat it without dying nor getting seriously injured.
"Well done Jason," Invidia said warmly.
"Hmm," Sophia's hummed in agreement. "Not bad for an undercooked turkey."
"Thanks," Jason said before frowning. "Wait what did you say?" Sophia merely smiled before the system appeared again.

Jason collapsed to the ground in pain as his bones started to break apart. His muscles started to rip themselves apart. His nerves were on fire as his body began to repair themselves. He screamed in agony. The process was excruciating and felt like he was being bathed in boiling lava.
Sophia and Invidia sat on either side holding him down. They both knew he was undergoing an evolution into adolescence. They wanted to make sure he didn't hurt himself during the process. After five minutes went by, the pain started to subside. His bones started to mend themselves and his muscles were stitched back together.
Jason sat up on the floor as Sophia stood up and grabbed his water. Invidia rested a hand on his shoulder to keep him steady. Sophia returned and handed him the pitcher. He drained the gallon sized pitcher in seconds.
"Well done. How do you feel?" Invidia asked him.
"I feel better. Perhaps it was just reminding myself that I'm not as weak as I once was. Thanks for the help."
"No problem."
Sophia looked at Invidia, narrowed her eyes and walked away from the two of them. She walked to the door and closed it on her way out.
"Where did she…?" Jason was interrupted before he could finish. Invidia held his face with her hand and turned it so they faced one another. He could sense her heart beating in her chest and an intoxicated feeling of lust flowed from her. Her silver eyes turned into a beautiful shade of pink.
Jason lost himself in those eyes. He couldn't breathe and he couldn't move. He was entirely at the mercy of Invidia.
