Chapter 6 - chapter 6

Otto sat on the sofa with his arms crossed, looking at the machine in front of him that could display pictures.

He didn't recognize what a television was, and he wasn't actually watching the movie Kiana was playing.

He kind of understood why Rita had said there was no need for him to change clothes — his Bishop robes had a hole stabbed in them, so the maid must have known what was going to happen next.

Was this how men and women played around five hundred years later? No way! Getting stabbed could easily kill someone!

Kiana sat beside Otto on the two-seater sofa. She held a bucket of popcorn in her arms, eating while watching the movie.

She wasn't clinging to Otto; they kept a proper distance between them.

After all, Kiana had grown up. She was no longer the little girl who needed Otto to hug her to sleep after watching a horror movie.

But Otto's heart didn't relax at all. After stabbing him and apologizing, Kiana had pulled him to the sofa and started chatting excitedly, just like a child coming home from school and telling her parents about her day.

This left Otto completely confused about what kind of relationship this girl had with his future self five hundred years later.

She wanted to kill him, so she was an enemy, yet right now she felt exactly like his own little daughter.

Full of confusion and knowing nothing, Otto could only play the role of listener during the chat. Even though he barely spoke, it didn't dampen Kiana's enthusiasm.

They chatted, watched the movie, and Kiana even cooked lunch herself.

The lunch tasted good, and Otto couldn't help smiling. Seeing his smile, Kiana grinned like a child.

Otto had kept a straight face all day, making Kiana worry that he was annoyed with her. Now that he smiled, she felt genuinely happy inside.

After the meal, however, Otto left. Even though he had stayed for half a day, he had barely said a few words.

Otto still remembered the principle that too many words lead to mistakes.

He didn't dare speak much more, nor did he dare have too much contact with the white-haired girl, afraid she would notice something wrong. So he basically fled from Kiana's place.

When he left, Kiana couldn't stop him and could only hug Otto's stiff body, reluctantly saying goodbye.

Actually, she's a good child.

When he was hugging Kiana, Otto revised his judgment of her in his mind, taking her off the enemy list and putting her on the unknown list.

After leaving Kiana's room, Otto returned to his own room by following the route he had memorized earlier.

Along the way he didn't see anyone else — not a single shadow. Perhaps this was a special restricted area where outsiders weren't allowed, so Otto raised his opinion of Rita a little higher.

Being able to lead the way in a place like this meant her identity must be quite special.

If she were just an ordinary maid, there would be places she wouldn't have permission to enter.

Back in his own room, after the door closed automatically, Otto leaned against it and slowly slid down to sit on the floor.

He loosened his collar and breathed heavily. No matter how precocious he was, he was still just a teenager going through puberty.

The sudden change in environment, the strangers all around him, and the unknown future — all of it weighed on Otto until he could hardly breathe.

He gasped for air, not because his body was exhausted, but because the tension he had been holding finally loosened once he was back in the room.

His back was soaked with sweat and he almost collapsed on the floor. At that moment, a figure materialized in front of him.

The golden Otto appeared — it was Void Archives.

He stood over Otto, looking down at him like a dead dog on the ground. "Tired, huh? Hand the body over to me and you won't feel tired anymore."

He was tempting Otto, yet even in this weakened youthful state of mind, Otto could still suppress Void Archives completely.

Otto looked at the face that was identical to his own and steadied his breathing, frowning at Void Archives.

"Why are you using my face?"

Otto asked. He wasn't used to staring at this face.

"Who told me to turn into Otto's shape after five hundred years?" Void Archives shrugged indifferently.

"Change it."

Otto ignored Void Archives' words. From the very beginning he had placed Void Archives in the enemy column in his heart.

He wasn't as cautious with his speech in front of Rita or Kiana, because Void Archives already knew his origins.

It was quite pathetic when you thought about it. Right now he could only reveal his true self to something that coveted his body.

"Fine."

Void Archives stopped using Otto's appearance and transformed into a girl brimming with youthful energy.

White hair, blue eyes, long hair tied into braids. Otto felt the new look resembled the white-haired girl from earlier.

Otto slightly averted his gaze because Void Archives hadn't manifested any clothes.

"What's wrong? Don't dare look straight at me? This is the nightmare you've chased for five hundred years."

Void Archives laughed, then a nun's outfit appeared on her body, wrapping up her full, alluring figure.

"Nightmare of five hundred years?" Otto was a little confused, and Void Archives continued.

"That's right — Kallen Kaslana. You've been barely hanging on for five hundred years just to resurrect this woman who died long ago."

Kallen? Otto slowly shook his head. The name sounded like someone from the Kaslana family, but he had never met her.

So he felt no real emotional stir inside — just that it was so white and so big. He found it hard to grieve for someone he only knew by name, even if that person was the one his future self wanted to resurrect.

"I'm quite curious — are you actually male or female?" Otto asked, looking at Void Archives. Even though she now wore a beautiful skin, he still treated her as a monster in his heart.

"Gender doesn't matter." Void Archives answered, but she still spoke up. "Although I can change my body's form, in the beginning I was a girl."

A girl? Otto pushed himself up from the floor using the door for support. He was feeling much better now. Void Archives watched his weakened state and laughed.

"If you're really that tired and don't want to give me the body, just kill yourself. That way the other Otto can resurrect."

Void Archives said it with a smile, clearly enjoying the sight of Otto's miserable appearance.

But when Otto heard those words, his eyes narrowed. He seemed to have caught something he couldn't ignore.

Otto leaned forward as if he were about to pounce on Void Archives. He kept that aggressive posture and spoke.

"Resurrect?"

"If I kill myself, my future self can resurrect?"

Otto grabbed Void Archives' wrist as he spoke, as if he didn't want to let her escape.

"Void Archives, tell me about this resurrection. It benefits both of us."

"I want to stay in this era, and you want the chance to escape."

"So, are you going to fight me — the me with over five hundred years of experience — for this body, or are you going to match wits with me?"

Hearing Otto's words, Void Archives looked at him with a slightly surprised gaze, as if she were meeting him for the first time.

"You… you've been like this since you were a kid?"

"If I had known earlier, I would have played dead the moment you summoned me. I really regret getting greedy for your body back then."

"But your proposal… it's hard for me not to support it."
