Half past eight in the morning. Anvesha stands before the mirror. She's wearing a dark blue gown. The dress Ayaan sent. Hair styled and tied. Light jewelry.
But the anxiety still lingers in her eyes.
Last night's vision is haunting her. Ayaan's love-filled eyes. And Arnab's terrifying face. Why did she see both?
"Ready?"
Ayaan's voice came from behind. Anvesha turned around. Ayaan was leaning against the door. He looks dashing in his black suit. But those icy eyes remain.
"Yes," Anvesha smiled faintly.
Ayaan looked at her for a moment. Something flickered in his eyes. But he controlled it immediately.
"Let's go. We're getting late."
---
Silence inside the car. Anvesha looks out the window. Ayaan is driving.
"Don't be nervous," Ayaan suddenly spoke, "It's not as difficult as you think. Just stay by my side. Smile. Don't talk too much. I'll handle the rest."
Anvesha nodded. Before she could say anything, the car stopped in front of a five-star hotel.
---
Four people sat at the dinner table. Ayaan and Anvesha. And Mr. Rayhan with his wife Sharmila. Huge business partners.
"So happy to hear about your marriage," Sharmila said, holding Anvesha's hand, "Ayaan seems very happy."
Anvesha looked at Ayaan. Happy? This ice-cold man?
Ayaan smiled mildly. "Sharmila Aunty, you know—marriage is done, now managing the household remains."
Everyone laughed. Anvesha tried to laugh too. But did the laugh seem fake? Could anyone tell?
Food arrived. Conversations continued. Anvesha listened quietly. Occasionally nodding. Smiling.
Suddenly her forehead started burning. No! Not now! Please!
But nothing could be done. Before her eyes flashed—
Ayaan! Standing on a road. Night. Raining. Tears in his eyes? Ayaan is crying? In front of him stands Anvesha—no, not Anvesha! Someone else! That girl slapped Ayaan. A hard slap. Ayaan fell to the ground.
Then Arnab! Gun in hand! He fired—at Ayaan!
"Anvesha!"
She startled and opened her eyes. Ayaan was holding her hand. Concern in his eyes.
"What happened to you? I've been calling for a while. Didn't you hear?"
Sharmila was looking worried. Mr. Rayhan too.
"I... I..." Anvesha couldn't speak. Her throat was dry.
"She has a slight headache," Ayaan spoke up, "She's been a little feverish since yesterday. We should leave now."
Ayaan held Anvesha and made her stand. Bid farewell to Mr. Rayhan and Sharmila, and left.
---
As soon as she got in the car, Anvesha burst into tears. Uncontrollable crying. Won't stop.
Ayaan froze. He thought of saying something, but instead just started the car.
The car moved. Anvesha cried. Ayaan remained silent. After a while, the car stopped near a park.
"What did you see?" Ayaan asked quietly.
Anvesha wiped her tears and looked at him. At Ayaan.
"Would you... would you believe me if I said I can see the future?"
Ayaan was silent for a moment. Then said, "Last night... on our wedding night, something similar happened to you. I saw it. Today too. You see something, don't you?"
Anvesha was startled. Ayaan had seen everything!
"Yes," Anvesha whispered, "I see things. And what I saw today... it's very terrifying."
"What did you see?"
Anvesha remained silent for a few seconds. Then said, "I saw you... dying."
The silence of death descended inside the car.
