Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Shadow of the Past

Three days had passed since that night. Arnab hadn't returned home. But his presence seemed to linger everywhere—in the air, in the corners of the mind, in fear.

Ayaan was very busy. Went to office, returned at night. But he gave time to Anvesha. Small talks. Smiles. Not as cold as before.

But today Ayaan's mood was bad. Anvesha could understand. Because today was the death anniversary of Ayaan's father.

In the morning, Ayaan told Anvesha, "Today I want to be alone for a while."

Anvesha said nothing. Just nodded.

But after Ayaan left, Anvesha decided—today she would be by Ayaan's side. From a distance. Without being noticed.

---

Ayaan went to the old house. Where his father used to live. Now it was almost closed. Locked. But Ayaan had the keys.

Anvesha took a rickshaw and reached in front of that house. Watching secretly. Ayaan had gone inside. Anvesha started waiting.

After a while, she saw—another car arrived. Black in color. As the door opened, stepped out... Arnab! And with him, an elderly man.

Anvesha recognized—that man was Arnab's father. Ayaan's uncle. Whom Ayaan suspected of killing his father.

Anvesha's heart trembled. Why were they here? Did Ayaan know?

Arnab and his father went inside the house. Anvesha couldn't stay back. She gathered courage and moved forward. Peeping through the window, she saw—

Ayaan was standing. In front of his father's photo. Had offered flowers. Lit candles. And from behind, Arnab and his father were approaching.

"Ayaan!" Arnab's father called.

Ayaan turned around. Surprise in his eyes. Then anger. "Why are you here?"

"Your father's death anniversary. Came to pay respects."

Ayaan smiled bitterly. "Respects? The person who killed him has come to pay respects?"

Arnab's father's face changed. "What are you saying?"

"I know everything, Uncle. You killed him."

Arnab stepped forward. "Any proof, brother? You're speaking without proof?"

Ayaan moved closer. Near him. "No proof. But I know. You pushed him down the stairs. I saw the fear in father's eyes."

Arnab's father turned pale. Before he could say anything, Arnab shouted—"False! All false!"

Ayaan said calmly, "Then why did you come today after so many years? Just to pay respects? Or to hide something else?"

The atmosphere became heated. Anvesha was watching everything. Her forehead was burning. The vision was coming—

She saw—Ayaan! Falling down the stairs! Arnab pushing him! And Arnab's father standing and watching!

"No!!!"

Anvesha screamed. Pushed the door and rushed inside. The three stood frozen.

"Anvesha?" Ayaan was surprised.

Anvesha said in a trembling voice, "You'll fall from that staircase! Arnab will push you!"

Everyone was shocked. Arnab's face darkened. "Crazy girl! What is she saying?"

Ayaan was looking at Anvesha. Understanding—she had seen the future again.

Arnab's father shouted—"Why is this girl here? Throw her out!"

But Ayaan stood by Anvesha's side. "She's my wife. She'll stay here. And you both—leave. Now."

Arnab and his father left. But while leaving, Arnab looked at Anvesha—a terrifying gaze. As if saying—"Your days are numbered."

---

Returning home, Ayaan remained silent for a long time. Then he hugged Anvesha. For the first time.

"If you weren't there... today I might have fallen."

Anvesha wiped her tears. "Did I do right? By sending them away?"

Ayaan nodded. "You did right. But now be careful. They'll definitely do something. And you stay close to me."

Anvesha smiled softly. "I will. Always."
