I get on the tram. It stops when it was just about there. I look on my phone. I stare in dread, a gate? Its next to a school.
I drop anything on my seat as I jump out of the tram window summoning all of my gear. I summon divine flame and Singer. I use a chain of ice to jump on flames back as i ride on top of it. A chunk of ice from flame appears right above falling right into my lap, i grab it shaping it into a halberd.
Flame jumps from rooftop to rooftop with my on top and Singer flying next to it. I take about 13 minutes before I get to the gate and....
I jump off of flame making ice platforms to move faster in the air to avoid being slowed by attacks. I shape the halberd into a set of chains. I slam into the boss that was going to grab sunny with a scream of rage.
I swing around it getting onto its back as i wrap the chains around it. I push on its head with one foot and middle of the back with the other. Im taking soul, or maybe mind, damage i think but god damn it I dont give a shit. Sunnys too tired to fight the guardian at the moment
"Mongrel, go help the other awakened i'll tie this thing down until the government gets here!"
He nods bolting away. Im thrown off too late as flame and Singer are here. I easily stop myself as the two attack. I bolt foward to attack it, I use ice to block a few arrows fired at me. Im not going to win, im going to lose this fight, but im not trying to win, I want to, I want to kill this damn thing, but im not going to.
I only need to keep it away from the tired awakened. I instruct flame to not use its new fire abilities, from what I can tell divine flame is somewhat useless in this fight, singer is doing much better. When the government gets here she'll help with killing the guardian and flame will help with the general mobs.
I get to it, as I do I duck down under a attack making a set of throwing knives out of flames ice. I nail it in the shoulder. Its third eye, I need to hit that, it seems to be where the soul, or maybe mental damage is coming from.
I keep the thing distracted for a while, mostly because of how slowed it is thanks to cold film, before a dark blur attacks. Its a master, the one that sunny knew from the government, the attention of the boss is off of me!
I go for it, attacking and nailing it in the eye. Then I jump back and I move to help with the weaker creatures. I cut a fallen beast down stopping it from shooting one of the random awakened. Me and sunny make eye contact and I take left, him right while flame takes on the middle.
I make sure to make the things bleed of course. At this point im so speedy that I could even keep up with people with speed aspects thanks to blood drinker. I pull thread tight springing the trap cutting down quite a few beats and even a monster.
I freeze quite a few others and even more fall to thowing knives. The boss had only gotten one hit on my side, it hurts like hell but i'll deal. Theres 6 other awakened and their not too good at combat, the only useful one is sunny.
I duck under another attack, I get bit on the leg by another.
It doesn't do much damage, but it does slightly hurts. I stomp its head in and i spear the other on my halberd, I fling its body into a awakened beast knocking it over. I rush foward putting rhe halberd right through its eye. I fling the body off of the halberd as I rush to kill another. Me and sunny soon meet at the middle fighting together for a bit before we swap sides.
Soon the gate is cleared. Apparently singer had gotten the final hit on the boss, or more likely she asked to get the final hit, i got a memory from it as well, my second ascended memory. I dont stick around for long after the gates been cleared.
I quickly go back to the train, my stuff is still there. I grab it checking my phone. The ice skating lessons have been postponed for 4 days. I drag myself home slowly. When I get there sunny is home, looking quite bruised. I nod to him
"Damn dork you're banged up, who did you piss off"
Effie laughs
"Helped with a gate"
I flop on the couch.
"Can someone order take out?"
Effie stares at me then rolls her eyes
"What place?"
"Fast food i dont care much what"
After food I go to the dream realm and I go to my room curling up in bed. I sleep for my time in the citadel, I do quite a few small little repair jobs before I go back still i mostly just rest.
I go to the waking world, its late, i go up stairs, theres a child at the door, i to get myself some soda, i pour it into a cup, theres a child at the house. I speed to the door
"Wait wait wait, why is there some girl here sunny"
She waves shyly
"is that the kid that thought you were some middle schooler and then gave us food?"
she gets super embarrassed
"Yes this is rain my new student. Rain this is my roomate ■■■■"
I look at the pale child
"■■■■ your making a face again"
I slowly blink.
"Hello ■■■■ im rain. Im going to be mr sunless's student"
I wave my hand finally processing whats happening. I walk over to sunny giving him the memories I dont want. I look over to the kid
"Sure. I might help sometimes, throwing knives, dagger, halberd or shield?"
Later I look up my name on the network and me and "mongrel" are everywhere. The theories are wild.
"Awakened Heat Seeker and mongrel, what is their relationship? Is it family, allies or even lovers"
Ew to the last one but damn.
"Awakened Heat Seeker fights back to back with lord Mongrel, destroys gate"
I arrived late but okay, im good with looking cool.
"Secret clan? Heat Seekers and lord Mongrels potential background"
We dont have a clan together.
"Comfirmed, Mongrel is a woman"
I laugh at that one, they think sunnys a woman!
"Heat Seekers secret account?"
I comment on it, that yeah its my account and its not a secret. I then go get a snack. When I come back I have countless comments. Some asking me questions, others saying im a liar. This is straight up too funny.
There's also some footage of me and sunny fighting together which, okay we do look pretty cool. Theres also videos of me riding on flamd jumping from rooftop to rooftop. Theres a lot of theories on who singer is, who would think shes my ice shard! None of them would ever think so.
I lay in my bed in the dream realm, I flip a ice dagger. Im horribly bored, theres not really much pressing stuff to do at the moment. I could try some practice but thats all ive been doing. Art? No ive done enough of that for a while. Repairs? Nah, not in the mood to deal with people. What else? Oh i could check my runes.

Im in the 500s, thats good. If i had used the coins id be in the 1000s but I did preemptive trade with sunny, I can cash in for one item later. He always has some of the most insane stuff possible so I think it was worth it.
I could try to level up my aspect legacy but it seems to be from moments of personal growth, so not right now. I could try to look at my new stuff. I summonmy new ascended memory. A pair of bracelets appears on my arms. So I have no god damn clue what they do, but they look real cool.
I'll probably use them as like, little arm shield things. They also seem to naturally make my skin harder too so thats a plus.
I walk with sunny on another smaller hunt, no falling into a void and eating the worst "food" ever.
"So what was up with that...scream?"
I glance over
"The one when you slammed into fallen tyrant"
Oh that makes sense
"I was angry and it got its full attention off of you and onto me letting you move back to help the other awakened"
He nods
"Oh and, your echos can evolve?"
"Yours can too"
He gets a sheepish expression
"I mean yeah but its different"
I shake my head
"Not really."
He scoffs
"How cold of you sun"
"Yeah yeah, its just that im super powerful and your so obvious you get scared by me all the time so I didnt expect you to have such a powerful ability."
I slowly look at him hes got a stupid little smile. I grab his face and he yelps and punches me.
"You little"
he runs away and i run after him.
"Get back here you little shit!"
