Over the last, I'd say month, my cohort had been mostly stalled at this one city. Its so bad, so bad that for a while I thought the place had to have someone who was Fated, because hot damn problems keep popping up.
But no nobody does, probably. Shielder and beast keep arguing, beast being, as rogue called him, a man whore and shielder being, as portal called her, a stick in the mud.
Portal and fighter are paired together mostly because portal is the second most responsible with shielder being the first, she's busy keeping beast in time.
Rogue and ranger are paired together because they don't clash too much, and ranger gets rogue to do his damn job.
I go into a free fall i land on top of a fallen devil. As it goes to swipes at me it freezes and so does many of the creatures close by do as well. I hop down from its back and I make my little bike PTV I get on it and I start driving.
I weave around some and I hit others with it. I've taken it on myself to deal with any particularly powerful creatures that come to the walls. I get to the gate and velvet waves at me, at this point I keep them summoned all of the time. I have noticed that I've been gaining more and more summonable people. I don't even personally know these people most of the time. Hey at least prince can't ever invade my soul sea.
As I move throughout the city I look around the city. A few people in see pretty often wave to me and I wave back to them. Some just because they live close by, others because members of my cohort bring them around. I have noticed I've gained quite the weird nickname, the feral necromancer. I think that is a weird thing to call me. Really weird.
I'm not feral, I'm not just good moving on all 4s. That does not mean I'm feral. Although I've stopped fighting the weird nickname. As I get to the government PTV flame turns its head up and snorts. I pat it on the head and I get into the PTV with a yawn. I high-five doll and we swap out. I lay down going to sleep.
Something just happened. I get up going to the communication rig. I start clicking around but nothing is working. I get up, I dont feel the call, well more then before. Something just happened and I know it. Did sunny do something.... no he got sent on some small mission.
Knowing him he can and will do something completely and utterly insane. Then he won't even acknowledge how crazy it was. If he does then it will be in a very dismissive way. Thats just how he does things. I don't know if he knows how crazy he is but I sure do. I don't even have a good frame of reference.
The nightmare creatures have gotten smarter. From what my cohort is telling me there's titans around. The saints are jumping them one by one. I've gotten my new mission, help move everyone from this city to falcon. I can do that. It shouldn't be too hard. Hope sunny is okay, knowing him he's 100% going to encounter one. Its going to take a few weeks to get everyone to Falcon from this city.
We stop near a battle line.
"Its them"
"Yeah I know"
"Is it that bad?"
"Its better their here then not"
The cohort leaves their PTV and I step off of mine. I see beast pose a little, rogue elbows him.
"When the mass gets here we will deal with the gate guardians. Understood?"
The cohort nods a familiar PTV stops close by and J steps out.
"Hey, damn had it easy round here haven't you?"
I scoff
"One problem after another. Thats all thats been happening. So no we haven't been sitting pretty"
I look at beast
"Stop that"
He turns his head away quickly
"Mmm? Oh he's looking at my ass again"
i nod, she hooks a arm around me
"Still can't believe you got a man whore"
I sigh heavily.
Me, the cohort and J sit on our ptv.
"God damn. Are these the kind of missions all you've been sent on" I shrug
"I mean this is one of the harder but not the worst. Have you heard from sunny yet?"
She nods
"Yeah he will be staying where he is until someone can go get him."
I smile
"Oh thats good. I'm glad he's okay... hey I've got a very serious hypothetical"
She waves her hand
"Sure shoot it"
I clap my hands once
"Okay so. There's this guy who tried to kill you and some friends. But the thing is, he was unfairly inprisoned and you and said friends had been forced to team up with the jailer under threat."
She nods
"Its pretty understandable that he would take me as a threat then"
I nod
"The thing is after he escapes he keeps tormenting you and said friends."
She scoffs
"Then the guy sounds like a ass. But it seems like a rude but reasonable thing, I mean not if your the one being tormented"
I nod
"Yeah. Some negative feelings about the guy seems reasonable."
My cohort drives forward
"One last push. One last gate to clear."
Rogue groans
"Oh come on. Can't we be done already"
Shielder scoffs
"We are the irregulars it is our job to deal with things the army can not"
Beast puts his arm on top of shielders head who seems resigned
"Oh doesn't that mean that we will have to protect the back"
I nod portal sighs heavily
"I need a break. I'm so tired and I'm running out of essence."
Ranger shrugs
"Aren't we all, one problem after another."
We get to the category 3 gate. It doesn't have a tyrant thankfully, just a devil. I nod to portal as one appears in front of me. I jump in and I land on the devil. I grab a set of ice chains and I pull on them as I put my foot on the back of its head. It lets out a scream of pure anger as it swipes at me.
I lift one hand in it a gun made of ice. I don't even have to pull the trigger as it goes off. I keep shooting holes in it until I'm thrown off. I glide back on ice, I manage to slice most creatures but a few slice into me. My armor stops most of them but a few go through. I lower myself to the ground and I rush forward to meet the devil head on.
Beast finally parks. I get out and i leave. They have a while to rest as J's crow summoned me. Apparently crow won't be able to come get me, as its going to go help sunny out. I'm glad he seems like he will need help.
As I walk, with a slight limp as my side hurts, i notice the place seems more then a little crowded, or maybe thats because the city i was mostly at before was far more empty. I get to the government building.
"Hey J"
She nods at me
"Hey. So erebus field was destroyed and two captains are dead."
I stare at her
"What....?"
