Chapter 29 - Chapter 29

"Before Mr. Killian says anything else, I would personally advise him to first recognize the situation. You should understand that if we want to crush your company, it would only take a single sentence from us."

"So I suggest you think very carefully. Don't make yourself into a clown in the end."

Originally, Alex had intended to threaten Killian with his family so that he would know his place. But before coming, they had already investigated him. Killian was an orphan with no family, and everything in his home had come from inherited assets. That left them with no leverage there, so Alex could only issue one last warning.

To be honest, what he hated most was exactly this kind of orphan.

If it were possible, he would have wanted to resurrect the man's parents just to use them against him.

"Sorry, but I'm afraid I'll have to disappoint all of you."

"I, Killian, have never compromised in my life, and I do not accept threats of any kind."

"If you really have the means, then come at me."

"But what you should worry about is not becoming the real clown yourselves in the end. Like that Mr. Gerard just now."

Looking at the people before him, especially Alex, Killian spoke without the slightest hesitation.

"And you know what? In my eyes, you are the biggest clowns of all."

After saying that, Killian stepped closer to Alex, leaned in near his ear, and spoke in an extremely disdainful tone.

The moment Alex heard those words, his pupils shrank, and his eyes widened in disbelief.

What had he just heard?

A man like him, the president of a pharmaceutical company worth nearly a trillion, one of the top ten corporations in America, had just been compared to a clown.

If anyone else had said something like that, Alex would not even have cared. He would have simply found someone to dump that person into a river. After all, companies like theirs could never have grown this large by playing nice. Within America, it could be said that every riverbed held remains tied to companies like theirs.

But this time, when faced with Killian's words, Alex could not explain why, but he genuinely felt that the man truly had confidence.

At that moment, he was already starting to regret this.

Two days had been far too short.

They should have gathered more complete information before coming.

"Alright, it's getting late, so I won't entertain you any longer."

"Sorry, there's still a company meeting waiting for me. You'd better hurry and take that man from before to the hospital. Oh, right, I won't charge for it this time. Consider it a free cosmetic procedure."

Just as Alex's expression kept shifting and he looked ready to lose his temper without quite doing so, Killian finished speaking and then walked toward the car that had already arrived in the distance.

During that whole process, only Alex narrowed his eyes and gave Killian a long, deep look.

For some reason, ever since Killian had whispered to him earlier, he had been unable to shake a feeling of unease. He did not know why, but Killian was giving him an extremely unpleasant premonition. In the end, he no longer felt like saying anything and simply turned toward his own car.

At that moment, when the others saw Killian leave, strange expressions also appeared on their faces. They thought that Killian must have secretly promised Alex some benefit in that whisper, so they immediately hurried after him, wanting to probe for some information.

Meanwhile, Gerard, who had already regained consciousness, was leaning inside his luxury car with the window rolled down. He stared viciously at Killian as he passed, then slowly dragged his hand across his own neck in a threatening gesture.

Killian ignored him completely.

At that moment, he got into his car, and as it started moving, it disappeared from everyone's sight.

Inside the car, the morning sunlight shone through the glass, casting its glow across one side of Killian's face while the other remained buried in shadow.

...

On the other side.

"Fuck! I've never been humiliated like this in my life. A president of a hundred-billion-dollar company personally went to visit someone at his home, only to be mocked at the door and sent away like trash!"

After Killian left and the group returned to gather again at their company, Modis clenched his fist and spoke angrily.

"It seems our companies have maintained too polished an image in public for too long, to the point that some of these younger people now think we're easy to talk to."

"A little brat who only got lucky for once actually dares to challenge us."

At the side, Francis Henry slowly turned the ring on her finger and spoke coldly.

At that moment, the viciousness in her eyes was enough to make even major gang bosses feel a chill if they saw it.

"Heh, people from the bottom always foolishly think that just because they invented some world-changing technology, they can really change the world."

"But in reality, unless you were born standing in that position, trying to climb above the rest later on... heh, keep dreaming."

"So how do we deal with this suicidal little bastard?"

"Kidnap him, or just hire someone to kill him outright?"

"Kidnap him. Our company just developed a brand-new sensory amplification agent. It was originally meant for a special department, but it hasn't gone through human testing yet."

"We can use him to try it out. Believe me, by then, even the slightest touch will make him feel like he's in a living hell."

"Hahaha, perfect. My company also just developed a new injection that makes a person feel as if they're being sliced apart a thousand times after it enters the body."

At this moment, none of them looked like pharmaceutical executives anymore.

They looked more like butchers, discussing and sneering as they casually decided how Killian should be dealt with, as if they could already see the miserable fate waiting for him.

Only, unlike the other presidents who all looked so relaxed, Alex still sat there with a dark expression, as if lost in thought.

"By the way, Alex, what's wrong with you? We've been talking to you this whole time and you haven't said a word."

"Don't tell me that a few arrogant lines from that brat actually scared you so badly you pissed yourself."

Modis noticed Alex's face and could not help mocking him.

"Gentlemen, ladies, we may have a problem."

"This is the information I just had someone look into."

"He visited Senator Kennedy's residence last night."

At that moment, after hearing Modis's question, Alex, whose face had turned ugly, handed over the message his subordinate had just sent him and spoke.
