Morning sunlight entered the classroom through the tall windows.Students were chatting, laughing, and throwing paper balls.
But Aarav was quiet. He sat near the window, slowly spinning a pen in his fingers.Outside, the sky looked normal. But inside his mind… nothing felt normal anymore. That broken city…The dark sky…And those glowing red eyes."Bro!"A loud voice suddenly broke his thoughts.Aarav looked up.His best friend Rayan dropped into the chair beside him with a big grin.
"You look like a zombie," Rayan laughed."Did you stay awake all night playing games again?"Aarav shook his head."Not games… just weird dreams."Rayan raised an eyebrow."You and your dreams again."He pulled a small metallic object from his bag."Anyway, look at this."Aarav looked at the gadget."What is it?"Rayan's eyes sparkled with excitement."My newest invention."
A mini energy scanner."Aarav laughed slightly."You seriously build gadgets for fun?""Of course," Rayan said proudly."One day I'm going to build something that changes the world."
Before Aarav could reply—The classroom door opened. The teacher walked in.Behind him stood a girl."Class, we have a new student today," the teacher said."Her name is Meera."The girl walked into the classroom calmly. Her long hair moved slightly as she walked. But her eyes were different.Sharp.Observant.She looked around the room slowly…Until her gaze stopped on Aarav. For a second, she didn't look away.Aarav felt strange. It felt like she was studying him.
The teacher pointed toward an empty desk."You can sit there."The seat was right next to Aarav.Rayan whispered quietly,"Bro… lucky day."Aarav rolled his eyes.Meera sat down quietly. For a few minutes, the class continued normally.Students talked. The teacher explained something on the board. But Aarav noticed something strange.
Meera wasn't writing anything. She was just looking at him. Finally she spoke softly."You look tired."Aarav turned to her."Bad dreams," he said casually.Meera smiled slightly."Broken buildings?"Aarav froze."Purple sky?"His heart started beating faster.
"Monsters hiding in the shadows?"A cold chill ran down his spine."How do you know that?" he whispered.Meera leaned back in her chair.
And for the first time—She smiled in a mysterious way.
"Because," she said quietly,
"I've seen that world too."
