Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: Electrical Lifeform Lening

"This is truly beautiful. Is this what you and Dr. Otto came up with?" Norman stared fixedly at the reactor. Harry suspected that if there were no containment measures, his father would have lunged right at it.

"Yes. Believe it or not, this thing was built based on the Fleischmann-Pons experiment—the one the Department of Energy branded as academic fraud."

"What?" Norman was taken aback for a moment, then chuckled, "That's truly interesting. How do you plan to handle this thing? The Military will really need this technology."

Harry shook his head.

"No, at least not yet. I intend to turn it into your political leverage, political leverage for the general election."

"As for the Military, they haven't even figured out the batch of radioisotope thermoelectric generators delivered along with the power armor yet. Let's clear out our inventory and production capacity first."

Norman thought Harry's idea was reasonable, but the only problem was that while they could keep this technology under wraps, Stark wouldn't. He was an arms dealer!

"You can rest assured about that. Stark won't do that." Harry hesitated, but decided to tell the truth. "Remember his father, Howard Stark? He was an anti-war activist, and Stark will be too."

Norman nodded half-believingly. Clearly, this reasoning didn't completely convince him.

"Stark, an arms dealer, is anti-war? What about their company?" Norman asked the question as a matter of course.

"Uh, of course, there will be some setbacks."

Hearing this vague answer, Norman was even more confused. It sounded like his son was a loyal supporter of Stark?

Harry couldn't help it. Stark would develop a lot of mysterious technology in the future. Other than using corporate maneuvering to make him work for him in disguise, he really had no other choice.

After all, building a cold fusion reactor by hand in a cave doesn't seem like something a human could do.

If only the system could issue a few more missions.

"Anyway, I'll handle these matters, don't worry."

After dinner, Harry went to his secret laboratory.

It was time to check the characteristics of this so-called "electrical lifeform."

Harry looked at the capacitor facility in front of him and softly called out its name.

"Lening."

Lightning surged violently, eventually converging into a spherical ball of lightning, bouncing around inside the capacitor.

Is this ball lightning?

Sensing Harry's gaze, Lening emitted a confused emotion.

Lening was like a newborn child, full of curiosity about everything.

After careful sensing, the little guy's ability exceeded Harry's imagination—he could perceive the electromagnetic fluctuations of the entire New York power grid through Lening, and even had the ability to act on any node!

For example, right now, he detected that in some underground location, a strange underground facility was stealing electricity at high intensity—

Bang!

Lening instantly vanished from the capacitor, and a computer far away suffered a dark hand, burning out on the spot.

Smiling with a mischievous sense of humor, Harry recalled Lening, and the little guy actually sent back a happy emotion.

"You're like my child, like a Pokemon. How wonderful." As he spoke, Harry brought his fingertip close to Lening, and a wisp of lightning darted into his body along his fingertip.

As a part of Lening connected to his bio-electricity, Harry immediately knew his own physical condition like the back of his hand.

Next, Harry went to the test computer.

"Can you display images on this?"

The computer screen instantly turned into static, flashing with unintelligible patterns, and burned out after a while.

It seems the little guy only has instincts and needs training.

Sensing Harry's thoughts, Lening sent a sad emotion, its body in the capacitor retracting into the power grid, though Harry could still feel its presence.

"It's time to start learning, Lening." Harry smiled, feeling like he was teaching a child.

Although Lening couldn't do anything other than control electricity right now, Harry knew he had truly found a treasure.

Once he taught Lening how to control circuits and transmit information, electronic warfare would be child's play for him.

Computers use binary to process information, which is essentially just high and low voltage. Now that electricity itself had life and had become his Pokemon, he didn't know how he could lose.

Especially against some artificial intelligence—this would be a killing blow.

And thinking further, electricity is magnetism, and magnetism is electricity. Controlling electromagnetism also meant that, to a certain extent, he possessed the means to control electromagnetic force.

There were even more powerful uses.

Watching Lening spinning around his fingertip, Harry smiled.

In a sense, he could now be considered to have broken through the limits of science.

[Mission: Energy Monopoly]

[Second Phase Mission: Establish a super power grid with over 98% coverage across the U.S.]

"Hurley, we need to promote the New York power grid model to other cities." Early the next morning, Harry started working.

"Of course, we must promote it. The question now is which city will be the next target." As she spoke, Hurley took out a stack of documents, on which were marked the quotes for various cities, and even special annotations—marking the impact of building power grids in each city on his father's political influence.

"I must remind you, since we only have experience with one construction, we must have an experienced employee to supervise the project when setting up the power grid."

"Washington will definitely be the next target. Send the entire construction team there and have my father and Dr. Otto supervise it directly." Harry didn't explain; he had already talked to both of them about this.

"Then the next city will be Washington. Congratulations to this lucky city."

Hurley was about to put the documents away when she heard Harry continue:

"Also, let Max be responsible for the Chicago power grid."

"Max? He is very capable, but are you sure he can handle this job?" Hurley was a bit surprised; in her view, he was just a dull engineer. "That city seems a bit chaotic lately."

"Let him go. Ability needs to be cultivated, and besides, don't underestimate engineers."

That's for sure. If it weren't for Harry, Max could have blown up the New York power grid. He was probably on his way now.

"Alright, so that's two cities. You shouldn't be sending me to do this job, right?" Hurley said while taking notes.

"Of course not. You stay by my side. Stark is returning to the country tomorrow, and you're coming with me to Stark Industries."

"I was just about to tell you about this. It seems you're not completely indifferent to the company." Ever since Norman shifted his focus to politics, Hurley had been handling many of the company's affairs. "But you're not going to a ball; you don't need a female companion."

"I pay close attention to everything around me." Harry shrugged. "I heard he has a very beautiful female secretary. You can't let me go alone, right?"
