Chapter 40 - Chapter 40: Super Soldier Frank

"Harry, your surgical plan is too advanced. Even General Ross hasn't reached this stage yet."

Connors evaluated Harry's plan this way.

"That's because I won't let them reach this stage for the time being." Harry shook his head. Some things were better kept to himself.

When Harry performed self-modification, the success rate was in the single digits, but through long-term experimentation and improvement, combined with active enhancers, the probability of avoiding serious consequences reached over 90%.

"Are you ready, Frank?"

Lying on the operating table, Frank took a deep breath and nodded.

Then let's begin.

The surgery was performed by Dr. Connors, who had extensive surgical experience due to his collaboration with General Ross.

The assistant was Lening, under Harry's control. With Harry's senses combined with Lening, their surgical precision exceeded that of most machine tools in the World.

Harry himself had undergone the same modification surgery, so he was perfectly qualified to act as an assistant.

The surgery lasted for a long time. Connors took several breaks halfway through, during which Harry took over.

Overall, the level of bloodshed was similar to the one Harry had undergone, but not as comprehensive.

"Surgery complete. Frank, can you hear me?"

"I... I can... It's too bright, too slow..." Frank's reaction was a bit strange. He said the outside World had slowed down, but to Harry and Connors, it was Frank who had slowed down.

It seemed that adapting to this change would take some time; after all, this modification wasn't performed by the system.

Capillary modification could promote the flow of his retinal rod and cone cells, and his visual ability could even rival that of the animal with the best eyesight—the eagle.

Compared to the current Frank, Hawkeye's name seemed a bit unearned.

Neural modification would exponentially increase his reaction ability, thereby strengthening his intelligence and memory.

Except for the bones and muscle cells which were not modified, the other configurations were the same as Harry's.

The failure rate for bone and muscle modification was also very high, and Harry would not easily modify Frank unless absolutely necessary.

"Vital signs are normal. Next is the post-operative health monitoring," Connors concluded.

Harry looked at the gradually recovering Frank with satisfaction—this was his first Super Soldier, who would play a significant role in future battles.

After instructing Frank to adapt well, Harry handed him the security key to the facility. Before making progress, Frank probably wouldn't want to do anything else.

And once Frank succeeded, Harry would be prepared to use the secret medicine to resurrect Norman. If the four-serum plan failed, he would at least have a backup plan.

"Dr. Connors, how are those four serums doing?"

"They are amazing," Connors said bluntly. "There are some phenomena I've never encountered before, completing the final piece of my research puzzle, but I still need to understand how they work."

Connors' face was full of excitement. After his in-depth research, he discovered that this was clearly the project Harry had once told him to abandon!

"Very good. Then, Doctor, go back and get some rest. I'm heading to the company."

The two parted ways at the facility entrance, and Harry returned to the company.

He hadn't shown his face for too long.

"Harry, where have you been? The company is in chaos! You can't just keep dumping the whole company on me and then disappear!" Hurley's call was the first one to come through.

"Your father is Governor now; he can't moonlight as CEO like before. You have to shoulder this responsibility!"

"I went to witness a miracle. It's a major scientific discovery."

"What? What are you talking about?"

"Nothing. I'm on my way, I'll be at the company in 5 minutes."

Harry was in a good mood. The resurrection was halfway to success, Frank's surgery was successful, and he had received a new mission.

The path was back to normal; he no longer needed to deal with those underground factions.

As for Alexandra, Madam Gao only wanted her alive, not for Harry to release her.

After all, this woman had caused quite a mess.

Once the Hand completed the handover of their legitimate businesses, she would be of no use.

Back at the office, Hurley gave a detailed report on a pile of loss figures, which gave Harry a headache.

However, The Group was still profitable, so it wasn't a huge problem. Besides, after the explosion, land prices in many areas had dropped, and Osborn could buy them for redevelopment.

New York was thriving, indeed.

Just then, Harry's phone rang.

"Harry? Do you remember what we agreed on?"

It was General Ross.

Calculating the time, it should be during the hunt for Hulk.

"Regarding this matter, I might need to talk to you face-to-face."

"I can't get away right now; I'm in Maryland. How is that thing coming along?"

"According to your description, I have indeed manufactured an implant that can paralyze the target, but according to your description, the target's dermis seems difficult to penetrate, so we cannot provide a surgical plan."

"That's not a problem. Also, I need your latest version of the T51 power armor right now. Hand them over to the domestic procurement office."

"Of course, as long as the Military needs it, Osborn is always happy to provide equipment."

"Hmph, then why don't you install weapons on them?"

Without waiting for Harry's answer, General Ross hung up the phone.

"See, Hurley, the order has arrived. Isn't making money the most important thing for the company?"

Hurley rolled her eyes, flipped through her memo, and continued.

"Congress has invited you to attend a hearing regarding Iron Man."

Harry stroked his chin. This hearing was likely organized by Senator Stern. This senator was actually a member of HYDRA, and they wanted Tony to Hand over the mark armor.

HYDRA's overt forces had never troubled Harry; presumably, it was because they had already gotten their Hands on the power armor.

The Military's control was very strict; at least none of the recorded power armor had gone missing, but it was inevitable that some would be "borrowed," and Harry couldn't control that.

There were two other potential problem areas: first, the power exoskeleton stolen by Kingpin still hadn't been found; second, the 50 sets of E1 power armor sold to the Hand this time, but that stuff was about to be phased out.

Harry expected to release two more versions of the power armor, and after that, they would not be for sale.

"Tony's hearing? I might as well go. It's a good chance to discuss some scientific issues with him."

S.H.I.E.L.D. would send lithium dioxide to Tony to alleviate palladium poisoning, but Harry had tested it himself. After entering the human body, this stuff would react with Water to produce a strong base; if that stuff were really pure lithium dioxide, it would be defying the laws of nature.

However, although Harry didn't know exactly what was being injected, he knew the clue to the new element.

Harry was someone who knew how to share.

"Arrange the shipment, then prepare a plane to Washington." Harry said while flipping through the materials.

"Taking a plane this time?" Hurley teased.

Harry put down the materials in his Hand, glanced at Hurley, and then pulled her over.

"Ha, haven't seen you for a few days, and you seem to have gotten a bit cocky."

"Stop! We're at work."
