Chapter 33: Indrajit's Wrath
The death of Kumbhakarna cast a shadow over the kingdom of Lanka.
The mighty giant had fallen, and the palace echoed with grief.
Ravana sat silently upon his throne, his eyes filled with sorrow and anger. Kumbhakarna had warned him that abducting Sita was against Dharma, yet he had fought bravely out of loyalty to his brother.
Now, that loyal brother was gone.
The silence in the royal court was finally broken by a confident voice.
"Father, allow me to fight."
It was Indrajit, also known as Meghanada, Ravana's eldest son.
Among all the warriors of Lanka, none equaled his mastery of celestial weapons. Having defeated Indra, the king of the gods, he had earned the title Indrajit—"The Conqueror of Indra."
He was a master of illusion, invisible warfare, and divine astras.
Ravana looked at his son with pride.
"My son, today the honor of Lanka rests upon your shoulders."
Indrajit bowed before his father.
"I shall either return victorious... or not return at all."

As dawn broke over the battlefield, Indrajit's chariot emerged from the gates of Lanka.
Dark clouds gathered above him.
Thunder echoed across the sky.
The Rakshasa army roared with renewed confidence.
Seeing Indrajit arrive, Vibhishana warned Rama,
"My Lord, be cautious. Indrajit is unlike any warrior we have faced. His greatest strength lies not only in his weapons but also in his mastery of illusion."
The battle began.
Indrajit's arrows flew like lightning.
Hundreds of Vanaras fell before they could even see their enemy.
Using his magical powers, Indrajit vanished from sight.
Invisible, he attacked from every direction.
The Vanara army became confused.
Even Hanuman, Angada, and Sugriva found it difficult to locate him.
Then Indrajit invoked the Nagastra, the celestial serpent weapon.
Thousands of divine serpents emerged from the arrows.
They coiled around Rama and Lakshmana, binding them tightly.
The two brothers fell to the ground, unable to move.
The Vanara army was overcome with despair.
Some believed the war had been lost.
Hanuman and Sugriva stood guard beside Rama and Lakshmana, refusing to leave them.
At that moment, the heavens stirred.
The mighty Garuda, the king of birds and eternal enemy of serpents, descended from the sky.
The divine serpents fled at his presence.
With Garuda's blessing, the Nagastra was broken.
Rama and Lakshmana rose once again.
The Vanara army erupted with joy.
Indrajit watched from a distance.
For the first time, even he realized that Rama was no ordinary human.
He returned to Lanka and informed Ravana that the battle would not be easily won.
But Ravana's pride remained unshaken.
"The war is not over," he declared.
"Go again. Destroy Rama and Lakshmana."
Indrajit prepared for an even greater strategy.
Instead of facing Rama directly, he planned to perform a secret Nikumbhila Yajna.
The sacred ritual would grant him invincibility if completed without interruption.
Vibhishana learned of the plan.
He immediately informed Rama.
"My Lord, if Indrajit completes the Nikumbhila sacrifice, no one in this world will be able to defeat him."
Rama turned toward Lakshmana.
"My brother, this task belongs to you."
"Go with Hanuman and Vibhishana."
"Stop the sacrifice before it is completed."
Lakshmana bowed.
"I shall not return until Indrajit is defeated."
Hanuman stood beside him with unwavering devotion.
Vibhishana led them through hidden paths toward the sacred grove of Nikumbhila.
There, the greatest duel of the war awaited.
The prince of Ayodhya...
Against the conqueror of Indra.
The fate of Lanka would soon be decided not by armies...
But by the clash of two extraordinary warriors.
The next sunrise would witness one of the greatest battles described in the Valmiki Ramayana.
