Chapter 11 - first kill

Rakesh Khurana grew anxious at the thought that the people inside might hear this sound and do something unexpected. But little did he know that they had arrived here long ago, and all those demons had already ventured deep into the cave.

Manas Dev Khurana says, "You don't need to worry." He continues, "If anyone comes here, I'll handle them." They slowly begin moving toward the cave, which led underground.

Meanwhile, when the demon leader had reached deep inside the cave, he saw a massive space far below. There too, glowing blood-red stones were embedded all around, making the cave even more terrifying. The demon leader looked ahead—a lake from which blood was falling into a pool below. Clear, pure blood cascaded down from the lake, forming a pool of blood. Seeing this, the demon said, "We've finally found it! Something that can purify our blood even further and help us evolve into higher-level demons."

The demon leader then controlled his emotions and said, "Although we've found this, this was never our purpose for coming here. We must resurrect the owner of this demon fortress."

He moved forward. Two paths lay ahead. Looking at both paths from that spot, he decided to take the one on the right. As soon as they began entering the dark path, two red lights were glowing on the ceiling of the cave. Seeing this, the two humans walking in front slowed down and stared at it intently. There was a mask stuck to the wall, with two fangs protruding outward.

As soon as the person in front took out his mobile phone and shone the light toward it, the mask stuck to the cave ceiling became visible. The moment the light hit it, its mouth twisted into a smile in an instant. The corners of its mouth curled into a strange grin. Seeing this, the man holding the phone dropped it from his hands. He staggered backward, fell down, and began muttering incoherently like a madman. He clutched his hair, and his eyes started turning red. The other man standing beside him suffered the same fate. Both of them collapsed to the ground.

A short while later, just as the mask's eyes were red with triangular pupils, the eyes of these humans also turned red with triangular-shaped pupils. Both men stood up again and, using knives and spinning blades, attacked the group of humans standing behind them—the ones who had told them to walk a little ahead.

In the group of humans standing behind, those two had been the ones leading. They had not expected such an attack. A knife and a spinning blade struck one man's throat and another's eye. Both screamed and fell to the ground. The mask on the ceiling stirred slightly, split itself into two parts, and attached itself to the faces of the two fallen men. They both became calm.

The people at the back stared in shock at the state of the two men. Everything had happened so quickly that they didn't even get a chance to react. Right before their eyes, the two men quickly stood up and began attacking backward. In the blink of an eye, four people—who were their own members—had started attacking their own comrades.

Caught off guard by the sudden attack from the four, the people at the back couldn't react in time and were injured. The four humans who had been hit fell to the ground. The masks immediately reached their faces as well.

Now, on one side there were 20 humans, and on the other, eight demonic humans. To make things even more interesting, the sound of more footsteps gradually approached. The people in this new group had masks on their faces—it was a group of about 60 to 65 people. Seeing all this, the leader of the group, who was standing a bit behind, ordered everyone to retreat.

In reality, these people at the back were the ones Dharma Khurana had sent to explore these ruins. Even they had no idea that something so terrifying was waiting for them. They were the Treasury Soldiers.

Outside, Manas Dev Khurana, Rakesh Khurana, and Dev were entering the underground section of the ruins. After going inside, they could see some glowing stones a short distance away. The map of the ruins that Dev had was quite detailed because the man who had given it to him had explored some of the hidden areas of these ruins to save his own life.

However, Dev had only shared the map up to the ruins with Manas Khurana and Rakesh Khurana. He hadn't told them about the interior map. He did this because if they knew all the information, Dev's dream of obtaining the Demon Body Art would remain just a dream. That's why Dev had to do this. Besides, Dev had only traded information up to the ruins anyway.

They continued moving forward. Soon, they saw a red ball rolling on the ground nearby. When Manas Dev Khurana saw the ball, it seemed to trigger some memory in him. But Rakesh Khurana, standing nearby, got a bit scared upon seeing it because a bloody aura was emanating from the ball.

Just then, a voice came from Dev's system: "An enemy has been detected. Your quest—if you defeat this enemy, you will receive 10 points."

Snapping out of his thoughts, Manas Dev Khurana kicked a nearby stone, which flew straight and hit the ball. However, the ball didn't move from its spot. Instead, eight legs emerged from beneath it. Seeing these eight legs, something clicked in his mind. He quickly grabbed Dev and pulled him behind himself.

Red light began emanating from the red-looking ball. It slowly started rising into the air. Its eight legs, which looked like the claws of a small dagger, began moving around its body. Floating in the air, it suddenly exploded with a blast. Manas Dev quickly took out a shield from his side and held it in front of them.

The machine-like creature hurled its eight legs toward them at various spots with such speed that if the shield hadn't been there, their bodies would have suffered severe damage.

Manas Dev said, "It took me a moment to recognize it. If you encounter such a machine, you should destroy it before it wakes up. Otherwise, it's very difficult to survive against them without safety equipment, especially for an ordinary human."

After the blast, a broken machine lay on the ground, twitching slightly, with some blood dripping from it. Seeing this, Dev thought to himself, 'It probably doesn't run on electricity or current. It runs on blood.'

Leaving Manas Dev behind, Dev moved forward, picked up a nearby stone, and smashed it hard onto the machine. Dev continued doing this until he heard a voice in his mind: "You have eliminated the Tiny Octa Attacker. You have received 10 points."
