The guard brought the phone to me in my bedroom about half an hour after Xavier stormed off.
I shut my bedroom door and immediately powered the device on. It was already synced to palace security, encrypted lines, and a private satellite network. Of course it was. Xavier didn't do anything halfway.
"Daisy Designs, this is Mara speaking."
Relief flooded me at the sound of my assistant's brisk voice.
"Mara, it's Sienna."
"Boss? I've been trying to reach you. Even Miss Betty nearly—"
"I'm fine. I've been busy with personal matters," I stated.
That was the understatement of the century.
Regardless, it was the only explanation I could give. Swiftly changing the subject, for the next hour, I slipped back into the world I understood. I gave orders, delegated, reorganized the timeline of the new collection release and client fittings. By the time I ended the call, my shoulders had loosened for the first time all day.
