Xavier's voice had raised considerably, and even I couldn't help flinching. I clasped my two hands tightly together and felt my palms moisten.
This time, I thought, he seemed really angry. He breathed, and I could see his chest heave up and down, growls escaping his lips.
Everyone noticed his fury and none dared to speak again.
"I am content to listen to your doubts and words, but I will NEVER," he growled out the last word. "Accept any word against my children."
I swallowed audibly as he said that.
I didn't know what to think.
Did he really care about them so deeply?
I closed my eyes briefly, my eyelashes fluttering. Then, I felt his hand on my wrist, dragging me forward. His grip was firm yet not too tight.
Warmth spread over my entire hand and my cheeks.
"Sienna is my mate, and our fates are entwined by the Goddess herself. Whether you like it or not," he bit out. "She will stay."
