Ashton snobbed him and entered the event hall with Ryanne.
The whole set up was a misunderstanding.
Another different event was talking place in XGX main hall.
Ashton decided to return to the organizer of a clear explanation of what was going on.
Just as he returned, he found the pale-faced registrator and another crew member behind him.
The crew member led them into a smaller event hall set up with a 7.8 inches podium and a few chairs for their audience which was not a great number- less than 50 people.
The last contestant was on the podium when Ryanne and Ashton got in.
Ashton noticed a banner held high above the podium.
It read, ' BEST MEMORY CAPACITY READING CHALLENGE"
Could this be the reason why Ryanne has been glued to her book.
It was finally Ryanne's turn.
She mounted the stage, her demeanor still indifferent.
" Start", the crew commanded.
She recited a whole book titled "Lazy daisies"
It had only 26 pages and the contest was centered on that book.
Ashton was handed a copy of a book.
Although her recitation, Ashton followed up.
Within a span of 10 minutes she was done.
The crew looked at her in shock. In just10 minutes, she had recited a 26 paged book word-for-word, no moment of shuttering, just flowing.
" OMG!!! The whole world's got to see this.", a crew member blurted out.
" The girl is gonna make BMCR Challenge a big hit.", another member commented.
Ashton spoke up.
Ashton:" After a bad welcome, you want to ride on her tail to fame. On this note we're backing out."
Ryanne:" Says who?"
Ryanne asked. Her voice causing the crew to have cold feet.
Ashton:" Did you see how bad they treated us when we arrived? Now they want to take advantage of you. Ride on your tails to fame. Can't y-"
Ryanne:" Done?"
Ashton:" What?!"
Ryanne:" We're not in a classroom don't lecture me."
The crew stared blankly at her.
If anyone was to tell them she was the one on stage few minutes ago,they would not have believe a dime of it.
Ryanne:" Comments judges."
Crew:" "
Ryanne:" I'm speaking to humans not spirits."
Finally, a crew member cleared his throat.
Member:" Miss you did very great. Such an impressive performance. I th-"
Ryanne:" No thanks. I'm not in for flattery."
Those words of her's we're enough to keep the member's blood on hold.
Ryanne:" If that's all you have for me then let me have my reward."
A member quickly presented her reward to her.
Ryanne:" Have fun."
She stormed out of the building looking quite impressed with herself.
Ashton chased after her.
Ashton:" Ryanne! Ryanne!"
She stopped in her tracks.
Ryanne:" Oh, I almost forgot."
Ashton:" You have to take me home."
She walked towards the direction of his car.
Ryanne is such a death wish, Ashton said to himself.
He rushed to his car before she blew any fume.
In the course of their journey, Ashton asked Ryanne.
Ashton:" What was all that act for?
Ryanne:" Act?"
Ashton:" Yh, the crew member was saying the tru-"
Ryanne:" It's a flatter, dude."
Ashton: "Then what where you expecting"
Ryanne: "Pointing out my mistakes"
Ashton: "But you made none"
Ryanne: "That's the point. Being too impressive is a mistake."
Ashton:" Hehehe!"
Ryanne:" What's for?"
Ashton:" You didn't get yourself right, girl. Being impressive is never a mistake."
Ryanne:" But too impressive is one.
Ashton:" Still don't get you."
Ryanne:" Too impressive makes you lose your impression on your audience and gain more haters. It leads you to a fantasy of fame - a ditch in disguise."
