Chapter 31: Jigglypuff Forgot?
After traveling through a desert, they finally reached Neon Town. It was late and the gang was getting tired, especially Tomo. When they entered the city, they saw bright lights and people everywhere.
"Neon Town is open 24 hours a day," Brock said.
While passing by casinos, Lyra accidentally bumped into a man. "Sorry," Lyra said.
"You will be, kid!" the man snorted, grabbing onto Lyra.
"Hey, I said I was sorry!" Lyra shouted. Misty, Tomo, and Brock were about to intervene before Pichu and Pikachu could shock him, but Officer Jenny appeared.
"That's enough," Officer Jenny said. "No fighting." The man walked off in a huff. "I suggest you kids get to a hotel at once and stay out of trouble. Hardly anyone ever sleeps here."
"Gosh, Officer Jenny looked cranky," Misty said.
"That's what happens if you don't get enough sleep," Brock explained.
After spending the night at a hotel, the gang left Neon Town after breakfast. "Phew, what a town," Lyra said. "Any more of that and Pichu and Pikachu might have shocked everyone."
"It makes me think I should use my Clefable and Marill to put people to sleep with a lullaby," Lyra mused. Brock agreed it was a good idea but thought they might need another Pokémon to help them sing.
Just then, Tomo saw something. "What's that?" he asked. It was a round, pink ball with pointed ears and large blue eyes.
"It's a Jigglypuff!" Lyra exclaimed.
"Jigglypuffs are famous for their lullabies," Lyra said. Misty thought it was cute and wanted to catch it, so she ran over and asked it to sing. However, this Jigglypuff didn't know how to sing.
"I have an idea," Lyra said, releasing her Clefable. "My Clefable can help."

Clefable and Jigglypuff walked to an opening.
"So, you don't know how to sing?" asked Clefable.
Jigglypuff shook her head sadly. "No, I never learned."
"Well, I shall sing first, then you will learn," Clefable said. Clefable sang her song, and some Pidgeys nearby fell asleep. "Oh dear, I don't know my own strength sometimes."
Jigglypuff was shocked. "Aren't you angry? They fell asleep during your song!"
Clefable smiled. "It's all right; that's supposed to happen. My Sing attack is a lullaby meant to put others to sleep. It's in the nature of Clefairys, Jigglypuffs, and our evolutions."
"Really?" Jigglypuff asked.
"Yes," Clefable said. "Didn't your mother tell you?"
"I got separated from her when I was a baby," Jigglypuff said sadly.
"I see. Well, I will teach you about our kind myself," Clefable said. After explaining their species, Clefable asked, "Do you know any other moves?" Jigglypuff knew Pound, Double Slap, Wake-up Slap, Body Slam, Hyper Voice, and Double-Edge.
"That's a good set of moves," said Clefable. "Now, I will teach you to Sing."

Thanks to Clefable, Jigglypuff learned the move. Clefable also taught her Mega Kick and Mega Punch. When they returned to the group, Jigglypuff didn't want to leave Clefable's side.
"Jigglypuff has probably become friends with Clefable," Brock noted.
Lyra left Clefable out and took out her rucksack to get some water. She also took out her bag of Evolutionary Stones and placed them on the ground. "I love looking at my stones; they look like treasure to me."
When Jigglypuff saw the Moon Stone, she touched it and began to glow. Lyra and the gang watched in amazement as Jigglypuff evolved into Wigglytuff.
"Amazing," Misty said. "Let's have both Clefable and Wigglytuff sing at Neon Town!"
They went back to the center of town and found an empty stage truck. Clefable and Wigglytuff sang together, putting the entire city to sleep. When everyone woke up, they were much friendlier. The man from the day before even apologized to Lyra.
Wigglytuff clearly didn't want to be separated from Clefable, so Lyra asked if it wanted to join her. Wigglytuff agreed. Lyra caught Wigglytuff, then immediately sent both Wigglytuff's and Clefable's Poké Balls to Professor Oak's lab so the best friends could stay together.
